My surgery is less than 2 weeks away and I have a blistering headache. Can I take some Ibuprofen today or not? Any help on this would be appreciated!! Thanks!

When should I not take Ibuprofen?

You may want to check with your doctor, but I believe you should be able to take some. Before my TAH, I was taking 800 mg. of ibuprofen two or three times a day for pain and, when I met with the anesthesiologist before my surgery, he didn't tell me I needed to stop taking it before the surgery.

When should I not take Ibuprofen?

Be sure to check with your doctor before taking ibuprofen, aspirin, or any anti-inflammatory. I was told to stop taking all ibuprofen products 2 weeks before surgery because it acts as a blood thinner and can interfere with clotting. Always check with your doctor first because it can be very dangerous to take certain medications when you are about to undergo anethesia and having surgery.

Best wishes!

When should I not take Ibuprofen?

I was also told no ibuprofin/aspirin/etc 2 weeks before surgery which means I will have to endure my last period without pain relievers. UGHHH

When should I not take Ibuprofen?

Good idea to ask the doctor. I was told to switch to Tylenol. I have never taken it before, but it seems to be keeping the pain in check. Extra strength. I checked with the pharmacist to compare the ibuprofen I was taking to find the right Tylenol dose.

Best Wishes

When should I not take Ibuprofen?

Please check with your doctor before taking anything. I was told that I could not take any ibuprofen products or herbal supplements two weeks prior to surgery.
