Making the Choice

I am one of those who "NEEDED" to hear repeatedly that "Yes, you need this operation"....I have had 4
different opinions. Family Doctor, Surgical Gyn, (both locally). Wasn't good enough for me...went to
a Large City, 100 miles away to a very well known Gyn...who referred me to a Urogynecologist..(specializing in prolaps of internal organs).

All said the same, I need the surgery to have a Better Quality of Life. But, they also left the door open by saying..

Ultimately it "IS" and always has been.... Up to Me.

I do not Like my personal "Quality of Life"................

You have to choose..."Do I want to continue to live like this".

I have to stay close to the bathroom during that time of the month, cover my bed with towels, and wear "Depends". Give up going on family outings at that time.......feeling exhausted from the anemia........ Also Can not come to terms
with being able to visually see my Uterus (from the prolaps). I am only 50 years old, married to a Wonderful guy..Our sex life is on hold........

NO, this is not for me.

The choice to go ahead with surgery is Doubt......the possible after effects are almost paralyzing at times. I have changed my mind a dozen times................still have weeks to go...I will have another cycle just before my surgery date..........

I KNOW for a fact... that will remind me of just why...............I am choosing to do this.

Good for you for getting more than one opinion! The thought of surgery can be terrifying and I hope everything goes well for you!

Thanks Ladies,

I really appreciate the support I have read and recieved on this board. I
also want to wish you both well.

As I said, I have changed my mind a dozen times...and probably will
a dozen more before the day comes. Wonderful to know there are
those willing to help............When the waiting gets to us and
causes all the doubt to creep back in.
