Severe cramps 6 months Post Op from BSO

Suffered with Endo for years, had my uterus removed June 2002, ovaries removed Jan of this year 2006. Have been doing great until 2 nights ago, started to cramp where my ovaries would be and in the lower back, woke up Friday morning hurting so bad I couldn't stand it. I went to work but had to leave early. Woke up this morning Sat and thought it was better but am hurting again so bad I am begging for relief.

Anyone have any suggestions as to what could be going on? I AM going to call my specialist Monday.

Hi Tracy! How are you feeling today? Any better? I don't know what to tell you about your pain, since it started so suddenly, but I hope your doctor is able to help you figure it out. I pray that it is not endo rearing it's ugly head again! Please let us know what you find out!

Thank you

Thank you for replying. Since you mentioned Climara, how did you do on it? That's what my Dr. prescribed but I haven't started any hormones yet.

I hope you have better luck with hrt than I am having! I tried Climara back in November, .1mg (highest dose) and after 4 days I had horrific chest pain, abdominal pain, headaches, fatigue, body aches, flu like symptoms. I had to call in sick from work and was bedbound until I ripped it off. Doc wouldn't believe the Climara was the culprit but for me it was. Have since switched doctors but am still struggling with hormonal balance. I am extremely sensitive to hrt (can only tolerate baby doses and they don't help much except for moods), but without it I am a nutcase. I am an unusual case though so don't let my experience scare you. Most women seem to do fine on Climara. You may want to start low though and work up. I have also heard a lot of success stories with the Vivelle Dot too. One thing about Climara, ask for the brand name patch. I got the generic and it is much larger, thicker, and harder to keep stuck to you. It doesn't seem to absorb as well either as the brand patch for women.

As far as pain, I had my complete hysterectomy for endo almost a year ago, and have never had complete relief. Over the months the pain has worsened to the point of becoming unbearable. Mine is in my bladder area, abdominal area between navel and pubic bone (and all around pubic bone) and lower back. Sometimes I get pains on the sides where my ovaries would have been, but only occasionally so far. I have already had an us, ct abd/pelvis, countless pelvic exams, blood and urine tests, been to physical therapist, and will be having a colonoscopy and upper endoscopy (due to chronic nausea and stomach pressure) before my next laparoscopy August 25th to check for endo, adhesions, or scar tissue. It is very frustrating when you expect to feel better after such a drastic surgery only to be going through the same stuff all over again. I really hope that whatever you are experiencing resolves itself or is something minor! You have my best wishes!

Hi Tracy

Have you still got your appendix....wondered whether it could be related to that.

Hope you get it figured soon. Take care.

Went to Dr. today

Went to the Dr. today and he thinks I have ovarian remnant syndrome. He had told me after my surgery in Jan that he hoped he got it all but it was such a mess in there, (my ovaries were imbedded into my colon and in the walls w/ endo and all) he told me this could happen but I dismissed it until I had such major cramps. They did vaginal ultrasound today and I have a mass about 4 inches in diameter on the left side. He suspects that it is ovarian remnant. Had blood work done also to check hormone levels. Will find the results of that next week. Until I go back in 6 six wks for another ultrasound I am using birth control patch to see how the mass responds. Probably facing another surgery if that's what it is. Thank you so much for your responses.
