Big Shock!
I haven't seen this here but I just have to share. I've been feeling really good, gone back to work, doing my housework and today....out of the blue...comes the bill for this little experience. I was in approximately a day and a half and the grand total for the castle was....drumroll please.....just under $12,000.00. Insurance hasn't paid yet so who knows what I'll be stuck with. I was shocked that it was so much. Oh, well, just another day in the land of hyster.

eeeek! I hope you were sitting down when you opened the bill.
I also hope you have insurance that will cover most of it. I still haven't received the good news (bill) on my surgery yet....should be any day now.
Most important, it is wonderful to hear that you are healing well and doing well.

Sounds about right...I was in 2 nights and my hospital bill was $15,000.00 and my portion to pay was about $1,600.00 BUT this was ONLY the hospital. Brace yourself for Dr. bill, anesth., pathology ,etc...I paid $3,000.00 when it was all said and done. Hopefully, it has made a positive impact on your quality of life and once it is done, it is done!

Queen_bee, we had surgery the same day so we truly ARE sisters!
I have high option insurance which means I pay more each month (and rarely use it by the way) so I think they said my total could not be over $2800.00 for all of it. I don't have the doctor bill but anesthesia was $819.00. Pretty good for 3 hours work!

My total bill was $22,770.00, but my out of pocket is $699.00. I had already met $301.00 of my out of pocket limit earlier in the year. Thank goodness for decent insurance.

Yike! I hope your insurance will pay most of that.
I'm active duty military so I won't get a bill. That makes it a lot easier.

My out of pocket was $5000! I had to pay that before the surgery. Total for all was $13,500. My insurance covered the rest. The amount before hand was to book the O.R. and anesthesiologist. If insurance does not cover some my out of pocket will be more. Please pray that it does.

My last total was almost 20k. I have to pay a max of 1500. thankfully. that is still a ton to me but well worth it! If you can't afford the total of your final portion please call the hospital and tell them this, i have known many of them to reduce the bill! they will also take payments. Goodness knows we don't need things to worry over!
