HELP! Medication Question

I have a very big question... At 2 1/2 weeks I began bleeding like a period but not more (then again, I had VERY heavy periods so I really don't know what would be normal). Anyway, I went to the Dr that afternoon and he said I was healing VERY well, except the small part farthest inside that was not healed (removed cervix with everything else). He gave me premarin vaginal cream to use every night before bed. I am still bleeding - although not quite as much...

After that.... here's the question. Does anyone know what the purpose of the vaginal cream is?

I am also on the Vivelle Dot patch and so I wonder with all those hormones - why am I still bleeding. If you count the time before the surgery, I have had to wear a pad for the last three months --- getting a little chapped now.

HELP is appreciated.

HELP! Medication Question

The estrogen vaginal cream is used to treat thinning tissues due to loss of estrogen in the body. Hrt like the pills, patches don't always reach the vaginal area. I am on the patch and still have to use vaginal cream for dryness, and keeping the tissue healthy.

You are still early post-op and so bleeding or some discharges is common. I started out with some bleeding and then a discharge for almost 5 weeks. It started out heavy then over the weeks got lighter and then to nothing.

It sounds like you are doing a little better since you have been using your cream. Also it is important to stay off your feet and rest, as the tissues and stitches inside are many and need time to heal.

Hang in there it does get better.

HELP! Medication Question

I had some bleeding at about 2 and a half weeks too, which went away. Discharge often continues up to about 6 weeks, but longer for some people if stitches are still around and if they have not com pletely healed.

The cream will help keep the tissues healthy and the PH balanced, all which will help healing and keep infections away. I have also learnt only this week that systemic HRT doesn't reach the vaginal - and bladder - areas. Take care..and rest lots.
