10 months post-op/still have pelvic pain. Inguinal hernia anyone??

I had a TAH/BSO on Nov. 16, 2005 and have done really well! Lost 30 pounds since this time last year, exercise, etc and feel literally "like a whole new woman"!! BUT I continue to have this left sided pelvic pain that has not gone away since about 2 weeks after my surgery.

Just wondering if anyone else out there has experienced that same thing? I have seen an Osteopath, Chiropractor, been to physical therapy, etc. My Gynecologist/Surgeon injected my Inguinal canal with Marcaine last Friday, but the pain still persists in my pelvis. My pelvic MRI was normal, as was my x-rays of both hips. Next my general doctor is referring me to a general surgeon for a consult.

Anyone out there have a similar story?? I would love to hear from you!

10 months post-op/still have pelvic pain. Inguinal hernia anyone??

Just had 2 pretty bad inguinal hernias repaired along with my LAVH BSO. Let me tell you, those things HURT! When the general surgeon examined me on my *good* side, I came off the table and had tears running down my face. Post op, the worst of my pain (according to my RE Surgeon) is from the mesh setting up in there.

My RE gave me some interesting reading (a white paper he wrote) about these hernias. Apparently, they are a common cause of severe pelvic pain, but often misdiagnosed or missed (lumped in with endo pain or other pelvic problems.)

If you have specific questions, I'd be happy to answer them.

I don't know anything about hernias, but I know about adhesions. Ask the doc if you may have adhesions. They can't be seen on ultrasounds. I believe they cannot be detected without going in. A few years ago I had laparascopic surgery to remove my first set of them & that recovery was cake.

Good luck! Hope you feel bette soon!
