new, not sure if in right spot

HI, my MIL used this site for her hysterectomy and said it was the best. In 2 days I will be having surg to remove a huge (9cm) cyst/tumor on my ovary and they are removing the ovary and fallopian tube. I am only 23, never had surg b/f and very scared. I am a newlywed, and family is very helpful and supportive, but I would love the info and support here.

Is this the right place for me, as I am not having a full hysterectomy? They do not know if it is cancer or not, or how extensive the surg will be till they get in there.

I would really appreciate any help, guidence, and info. My surg is Thurs, Oct 12th...so tommorrow is my huge bowel prep.

Thanks ladies!

There is an ovaries only board if you'd like to post there. You'd probably get more response from women who experience what you are going through. I did just have a hysterectomy last year, but 12 years ago I lost my left ovary and tube to a huge mass 20 x15 cm. It was scary, so I know what you are feeling right now. My surgery turned out to be 3 1/2 hours and I stayed in the hospital for 5 days. It didn't turn out to be cancerous. That was our fear too, since they couldn't tell what it was exactly.

I was a newlywed too and terrified what it might do to my fertility. Fortunately, the lone ovary can completely take over and produce all the hormone you need. I have two beautiful children ages 10 and 8.

I wish you all the best and a quick uneventful recovery!

Hello! to Hyster Sisters!

I've moved your post here to the Ovaries Only message board where you'll get support from others who are facing ovarian surgery or who have already gone through it. You are welcome to post here both pre- and post-op to get the support you need and to have any questions you have answered.

Best wishes for your surgery! We'll be here to help you get through this.
