Generic gas med and stool softener?

Anyone have any experience with generic (store brand) gas-x and stool softener... I want to go ahead and stock up but I don't want to buy alot of generic if its not very effective?.... I have had good results with generic over the counter pain meds and was wondering if the generic version of these would do.... I'd hate to get home a realize that it doesn't work well... that could be a real "pain"

Unless the name brand is on sale and is a better bargain then the generic, I always purchase generic. I do read the active ingredients and make sure they are the same as the name brands. I agree that you can save money and they are just as good.

I got the walmart brand of both and while I didn't use the gas x, the walmart brand of Colace worked very well and wow talk about saving a bundle there. I've never tried the name brand of either so I can't compare them to the original. I too use the store brands of Tylonal and ibuprophen, cold meds, etc. Look at the labels to make sure the active ingredients are the same.

My DH doesn't think that generics work, but I always buy them. Needless to say when he went to purchase my supplies he bought a $15 bottle of colace and a $5 package of gas-x. Save your money, from what I have been told the WalMart brands work just as well.

Generic gas med and stool softener?

My colo-rectal doc said never buy Colace because it is too high. So the Equate brand accompanies me everywhere I go. I bough all the gas-x stuff but didn't need it. So I can't comment on it. My neices and nephews all ate one of the melt-in-your-mouth strips for kicks after one of them tooted while visiting.

Best wishes ~

Very often generic brands come off the same exact assembly line, i.e., are the same product as the name brand, but they're popped into a different package. Generic brands rule - mostly!
