Hormone issues

Hello All
Having I think hormone issues. Surgery was August 14th. Kept ovaries. I'm major moods, depressed, tired oh boy am I tired, don't enjoy much right now, not sleeping good. Don't feel like my happy go lucky self. Yes I feel so much better having the surgery etc but emotionally not so good. Is it normal? is everything working right? Should I be concerned that ovaries are not working? Maybe I need meds for depression unsure.

Hormone issues

I kept my ovaries, too. They didn't seem to be working until about 2 months postop, then they kicked in!.....I knew, because my breasts became very sensitive and swollen, just like they always used to about 9 days before my periods.

So, maybe your ovaries are still asleep. There is a blood test your doc can order if you feel the girls don't kick back in, soon........to confirm ovarian function.

As for the fatigue.......WELL.......I think that is the #1 side effect of this surgery. Postop, I was introduced to the level of fatigue of which I had never experienced in my lifetime. My energy did come back, eventually......slowly, over a period of about a year. Instead of letting it sadden me, I just decided that it was going to happen.......and planned my days accordingly. The hardest part was convincing those close to me that.....just because I went back to work......didn't mean I was 100%, yet. It was a learning process for all of us.

I learned so much here at Hystersisters, that I had no fear, as I knew it was a reality for many women. As a nurse and a woman, had never, ever, been aware of all we go through with this major surgery, until I experienced it and read accounts of all the others here.

You are so early in your recovery. And, if I remember correctly, you are at the point where you may start seeing dramatic week-by-week improvement. Take care, Princess............s....Deb
