Arrgghh! i'm going thru "natural" menopause this time!!

:burning:

i'm 44, had my surgery 13 yrs ago....haven't been the same since in SO many aspects, mainly insomnia and depression,

and now it seems my body is going thru what it would have naturally...i didn't know that was possible till i researched it and found its pretty common.
i first read about this in Dr. Northrup's book-The Wisdom of Menopause...a very good book.

sigh....i'm having hot flashes and night sweats and my sleep schedule is so out of whack. insomnia so bad..
crying alot over emotions that are bubbling up and out that have been stuffed for so long.
anyone else had surgery then find their bodies are doing the natural change?

thanks for listening!

Oh ((((nita)))) I'm so sorry you're having such a hard time this long after your surgery

I'm currently going through natural menopause, having kept my ovaries and I'm having a lot of the same symptoms you're dealing with My GP doesn't believe in HRT, so I've been using supplements to help with the symptoms. They help, but not to the point that I can say that I've got them under control I'm seeing a new doctor on Friday and I'm hoping that he'll be more open in this area

I see from your profile that you had a BSO and are using HRT. Have you mentionned these new symptoms to your doctor? It may be time to tweak your prescription

Here's a link to the "Menopause Checkpoints" where you'll find lots of info on surgical menopause. Hopefully you'll find some of the answers you're looking for

Nita,
I'm sorry you're having a difficult time right now. I don't think that you can go through natural menopause once you've been through surgical menopause. Natural menopause requires ovaries, which you don't have. What it could be is that your hrt needs some tweaking. It is not unusual for our hormonal needs to change over time. I think you should give your doctor a call and discuss your symptoms and how you're feeling with him/her.

Couldn't she go through natural menopause since she kept her ovaries? My Dr. said that, and I did so. I had Hyst. quite young and kept mine, then went throught it years later after my ovaries gave up the ghost and went on HRT.

According to the profile, the ovaries were not kept, so no natural menopause.
