What a mess....

PLEASE DO NOT READ THIS UNLESS YOU ARE USED TO HAVING UNUSAL THINGS HAPPENING IN USUAL CIRCUMSTANCES.... :-)

Hi. Hope everyone is well. I had my surgery Monday, October 30th. Went in for TAH, ended up leaving right ovary. Surgery went great. Dr. found more than he expected - endo., left ovary shot, scar tissue, etc. Said all went well. Tuesday all well in hospital, going home on Wednesday. Lab work done Tuesday shows blood count and platelets dropping, low iron. By Tuesday evening, crazy temp. (102. - 104.5). This went on rest of week. Temp. spiked at 105. Talk regarding blood tranfusion on Saturday. Had total 23 iv sites as vaines would blow or collapse. It was just crazy. My doctor told me I would not get out of hospital until sometimes this week. His weekend on-call sent me home on Sunday.... Thought I was going to die yesterday. 1st day home, no one here with me (as I expected to still be in hospital)of course, reaction to pain meds. I was sent home with.... But, today is better. I have a ton of Dr.'s visits coming up. I have the correct pain meds. My sister is with me and am feeling o.k. today. About to go and take a shower and will be out of it until this evening. Absolutely no engergy. Excuse all the typos.....

What a mess....

Please let us know how you are doing. You really should have someone with you for the first week home from TAH even without complications.

What a mess....

Hope you are on the upswing soon. I can't believe the on call doc sent you home after your doc said you needed to stay. Try to have someone with you as much as possible these first few days.

I feel your pain :)

I feel for you! Had my first surgery Aug 10, 2006. Cancer turned out to be cervical so just had my second surgery Oct 31st. Had to do it abdominally because I was still too swollen from the first surgery. Lost a lot of blood so they wouldn't release me. Very low blood count. I refused the transfusion because my luck hasn't been that great lately and I'd be the small percentage that got tainted blood! Not thinking negatively, just realistically. Finally got home after four days (much begging). Had my blood checked today and got instructions from my doctor on when to head to the hospital "danger signs"! I'm crossing my fingers my blood is cooperating. I'll know tomorrow. Good luck to you. Keep me posted.
