How to stop a dry cough

I got this crud that was going around and had that left over dry cough. It was terrible. Kept me up all one night. Doc says that cough can last at least two weeks

No way did I want a cough going into this surgery even if everything else was over with. In desparation to get sleep, I looked up home remedies and one I came across specifically for that dry cough was

1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
1/4 tsp. ginger
1 tbsp honey
1tbsp apple cider vinegar
2 tbsp water

Take by the teaspoonful.

So, I mixed some up. WOW. It packs a wallop and if you have a tummy that can't handle heat, you wouldn't want to do it but it drastically helped my cough that would start to come on aroun 9 pm or so. I took a teaspoon when I felt the tickle come on and BOOM, I was able to cough up easily a little phlegm and it didn't drag on. I think the cayenne really blows open the passages.

It doesn't taste great, but it's easy to make, you can take it when you feel the tickle and not worry about "is it too soon" since there is no medicine in it. And honestly, I think it works better than anything since they stopped making "GI Gin". The next day I had barely any cough. Since then, I've had to take it like once.

So, if you are desparate, try it. I was really feeling like I had a hernia or something down by the ole' uterous when I coughed and that scared me something fierce to think of coughing after surgery

At least it can't hurt. (and I think you could play with the amounts a little too and still have it be effective. I think I would try 1/8 tsp cayenne and 2 TBSP honey next batch).
