post op care

Have read so many negative things on post op care. I would like to say my nurses were great. Made sure I was comfortable, had my meds on time. In recovery was given pain medication as soon as I said I hurt. The anesthesiologist even put a patch behind my ear to prevent nausea from anesthesia. Had no problem. Now I am home and not sleeping well, also have had some crying spells. Physically sore but doing better. Had SAH with steristrips and dissolvable stitches. Appetitite not the best. Praying for quick recovery for all my sisters.

post op care

I had great care post-op. They were great. I am a smoker and they even took me outside in the middle of the night to have a cigarette!!

I would also like to say what great pre-op care I received also. I wasn't afraid of what I didn't know, I was scared ****less <oops! please do not attempt to override the censor!> because of whatI did know. I had a laparoscopy done in July. The pre-op nurse blew 3 veins before she got the IV in. I remembered being wheeled into OR and seeing all the equipment, lights, table, etc. That really scared me. I get very sick from anesthesia every time I have to go under.

I voiced how scared I was to the nurse. She made sure of the following: It only took one stick to get my IV in; they wheeled me down the hall to the OR and when we stopped to get one of those wonderful heated blankets, the anesthiaologist came out of the OR which was right across the hall from where I was at. He put a patch behind my ear for the nausea, and he gave me a shot in my IV. We only had to go about 10 feet, but I sure don't remember going into the doors of the OR.

I just wanted to share that and hopefully all that read this that are still in waiting will have peace of mind that if there is anything they can do at the Castle to make it better, they will!!
