Restrictions... 3wks post TVH???
Hello~
I don't have an appt. with my DR for a week yet so I am wondering at this point in recovery from a TVH 3 wks ago today...what are the "normal" restrictions. I feel pretty good other than really knowing that the fatigue can set in rather quickly yet.
Can you drive?
How much can you lift? (I have two small kids one weighs about 25 lbs and the other 35 lbs or so.)
Work? (I babysit kids... wondering how long yet I will be off... )
Thanks for your help in advance. I am just getting a little stir crazy... want to drive and want to lift my kids but am afraid of over doing it!!
Thanks to all and Happy New Year!!

Restrictions... 3wks post TVH???
Hi there, I had my surgery on 12-11. I had a TAH. I was told at my appt last Tuesday that I could drive. But to be careful that I was not feeling strain in my abdomen. I have only driven once since then and did ok. I haven't been driving too much because I tire so easily. I was told not to lift anything over 10 lbs for 6 weeks. I hope that helps, but I am sure your doctor will make the recomemndations particular for your recovery.
~ Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Restrictions... 3wks post TVH???
I am just about 4 weeks out and have only driven once, and that is because every car we have is stick shift and I was afraid that pushing in the clutch as needed would cause pain, but it did not. I will be going out again tomorrow and will go back to work towards the end of next week.
I have picked up my 12 lb cats, although I do not do it often and when I do, I hold them close to my body. I have not had much luck lifting things away from my body, I usually feel a sharp twitch, so I am really careful not to lift too much. I would be cautious of lifting anymore weight.
Don't overdo it. There will be plenty of time to lift and carry your children. Healing takes time, but it is better to take it easy than overdo it and end up back on the couch.

Restrictions... 3wks post TVH???
Hello
I had a TVH also and I could drive at 2 weeks but did not do it very often had an internal stitch rip from the pushing on the brake. I also was told no lifting over 10 lbs. for 6 weeks. My DD did the carring of the laundry baskets and the vacumming for those weeks. I would check with your Dr. as far as when you can start back to work. I would imagine at 6 weeks, but every one is different in there healing. Hope this helps.

Hi, I would follow your discharge instructions until your appt. Every Dr. seems to be differant. My TAH was 12-11, and I was told not to lift over 5 lbs..but could drive in a week. I have been driving, my car is a stick and I have been fine..or so I think, I have my check up in 2 days. Good-luck to you and call your Dr. if you have ANY questions or concerns, thats his/her job.

Restrictions... 3wks post TVH???
Hi, I had a TVH with enterocele repair on Dec 6th, Did not take any pain meds after leaving the Palace, felt good but kept my braclet on to remind me that I'd had surgery. I called the DR's office at 1 week and was told that I could drive, as long as I wasn't having any severe gas pains, and to make the trips short. Today was my 4 week post op visit and I was given the go ahead to : go back to work tomorrow (ugh) swim, hot tub, ski(if we had any snow!) SEX!!!!! exercise, pilates, you name it, he said ok, stamina will be low so you'll be tired sooner, He said I was probably a good 2 weeks ahead of schedule in recovery, I have felt great and also lost 5 lbs since surgery. Good luck with your recovery, remember everyone reacts differently to recovery just like everyones deliveries of those babies are so different. If you tire easy then you are doing too much! Enjoy your time off and Happy New Year!!!!

Restrictions... 3wks post TVH???
Hi. I am 5 weeks today so a bit ahead of you. I had a check at 2 weeks and then a check with the urologist/gyn at 3 weeks. I was released to drive at 2 weeks (but I have to admit I did drive a little bit before that) and pretty much could do anything other than sex and exercise. Lifting is pretty much out of the question for me forever as I had prolapse issues and repair and if I want them to last, I can't lift more than about 10-15 pounds. I was cleared for tub baths right out of the hospital but have avoided my hot tub (I don't know why really). I am glad you are feeling well. Let your body be the guide and get plenty of rest.

Restrictions... 3wks post TVH???
I had surgery the same day as you. I was told I could drive at 2 wks as long as I could break fast if I needed to but to take it easy. I can NOT pick up anything over 10 lbs for 6 wks. No wash or vac. I too babysit. I watch a 2 yr old, 4 yr old and 5 yr old. I think at 4 wks I will be able to do the 2 older kids since I don't have to pick them up. I just fix lunch and we can watch movies or something I figure. The 2 yr old I have to wait at least until I am 6 wks out. He is the one I am worried about. I hope some of this helps. Be sure to still take it easy. I have been to the store but it wears me out. I try and pick to do just one think per day. If I know I am going to the store then I rest the rest of the day. If I go to the show then I don't go to the store. Have your kids climb up on your lap so you can feel like you are holding them. My 7 yr old did that one day when she was said. It didn't hurt but I didn't let her stay they long. Maybe have your little ones sit with you and read a special book together. I did fine going to the show then right home. Good luck
