LIW, a suggestion!

LIW, I don't know how many of you have places like Supper Solutions, Meal Makers, etc. in your town - they're springing up everywhere lately. Anyway, we tried one a few months back, on a promotional "meet and greet" deal with the company my DH works for, and it was helpful and tasty. Costwise, if you prep the meals in their kitchen yourself, it is cheaper than fast food. Anyway, what I've done is this - I scheduled a session for DH, DS, DD and myself for next week to make meals. (I think their deal is 13 meals, the place we're going to.) It takes about 2 hours. Then when I am truly down and out (I'm thinking the first two weeks), DH simply has to defrost and follow the simple directions on the freezer bags. Voila! Healthy food that isn't fast food junk, and we do it as a team effort. I was pretty happy with myself for thinking this up, and wanted to share, it takes some stress off my type A, control freak self! Joan a.k.a. SkierGRL

LIW, a suggestion!

You know I heard a few commercials for this on the radio this week and I thought what a great idea! Maybe I'll try this during my recovery period.

Oh, shoot, you've run out of time, haven't you? Best wishes tomorrow and remember to pamper the princess!!! You could send DH in to do this (the supper thing), but you yourself will probably not feel like it right off. There is a lot of standing involved (2 hrs. worth, roughly, when you prep the 12 - 13 meals) and last time we did it, I was in work clothes with dress shoes, my feet were SCREAMING when I got done, LOL! This time it's comfy clothes/shoes for me.

That is a great idea! We just don't have any around us. I looked into them a few months ago.

I don't cook, so I go to my favorite super suppers every month. The ladies there know my name - and my DH. We love it. I'm going to make lots of these up before my big day b/c my MIL will be taking care of me, and quite frankly - she is a terrible chef!

We don't have anything like that in our area, either, so I am going to do a little the last 2 weekends before surgery. We love soup, spaghetti, and chili, so I am going to make some of those and freeze them in single serving sizes so that they can just be popped in the microwave when someone gets hungry. Also plan to have some sandwich stuff and probably pick up a few crock pot meal bags...
