4 days from surgery, scared too
I am scared too. I have surgery in 4 days. This has been a long journey for me and I have tried everything from ablations to Lupron and getting my gall bladder removed. This is my last option it seems to relieve the pain. But I am so scared that the endo isn't causing the pain. That they will open me up and discover that I don't have endo and that there is no "medical reason" for my pain. What if I get everything removed and it doesn't stop the pain? Are these normal fears? No one seems to understand, so I have just stopped talking about it with anyone. But tonight I feel like it is all going to bubble over.
I have pre-op tomorrow, so hopefully I will feel better about all this then. I just pray that this is the right thing to be doing.
Thanks for any thoughts or words!
Ash

4 days from surgery, scared too
You are in my prayers! I just had a left oophorectomy and in a year and a half I'm supposed to have a full hysterectomy. My oncologist gave me this time to try to conceive because I'm 28 with no children and I voiced a strong desire to have the chance to at least try, I thought I had more time. I haven't been diagnosed with endo, pcos, or anything. They found a very large tumor on my uterus, connected to my left ovary... said my blood levels were showing possible cancer and they took the ovary, tube, and tumor out. I had my surgery on the 28th of December. Still no word on if I have endo or pcos or what. I can say this though, so far I am no longer in any pain (besides the normal post op 2 weeks out pain) and I have lost 10 lbs so far.
It's normal to be afraid. I would talk to your doctor again and voice your concerns. I talked to mine the day before and he assured me that once open, if things look alright he will leave me alone lol. I was scheduled to have a whole list of surgeries and came out with just the oophorectomy. I tried to be strong for my mom and fiance but once they put the iv in me I lost it... I still cry a lot to be honest because none of my friends understand what I'm going through.
Please talk to your doctor and voice your concerns. Hopefully he/she can put you more at ease. The women here are very friendly and helped me more than you can believe pre and post op... hopefully you will experience the same.
Sorry I typed a novel!

I also have fears that the hysterectomy will not cure my pain. My regular gyn sent me to a pelvic pain specialist because he did not want to do surgery and it not resolve my pain issues. The pain specialist took one look at xrays, not the reports, did a pelvic and said I definitley needed a hysterectomy. Like you and many others it seems, I have had my gallbladder out only to keep hurting. My theory is if this doesn't help, which I really know it will, then we can quit blaming everything on the uterus and look for the real culprit.

Thank you for your advice! I woke up really early this morning in a better frame of mind and I am going to tell my doctor about my concerns. You are definitely in my prayers! I am glad to hear that your pain has diminished, that is great!
Have a good, pain free, day!

Ash, I understand. Once my hyst was scheduled I went into panic mode thinking maybe they missed something on the other tests, etc. Its a tough decision to go through major surgery. I didn't want to deal with the possibility that I could still have problems afterward and have to under go another procedure.
My best advise is for you to talk to the dr again and let him/her know your concerns. I initally had a minor procedure scheduled, but after having additional tests done my dr suggested that the hyst was really the best option for me. He was right. Its been 3 1/2 weeks and I am very happy with my decision to go through with it. No more pain!
I wish you the very best and will keep you in my thoughts. Keep the faith!

4 days from surgery, scared too
I to have had pain off and on for 5 yeras, at first my doctor thought it was my galblader also and I had it removed , only to find out that it was Not the cause of my pain. Trial and error has been my road since then. I am scared of what they will find as much as what they don't find too. Is it going to be like the galbalder thing and am I going to go through this and come out on the other side still with no idea of what my pain is but minus my female organs? I share your fears Ash, so I do know how you feel. Everyday I go up and down about my descion. To the point I make myself upset and cry even more. I have left side pain above my ovary that just will not go away. And they want me to wait until Febuary for my Surgery! Once i had made the descion i wish they would have just went and done it the next day so i don't have to sit around second guessing myself or my doctors.
