Sudden Vaginal Bleeding 4.5 years Later!

Woke up this morning after 4 1/2 years of no problems with a period! A small bit of clotting too. Blood is bright red.

I still have my cervix but no ovaries. Been on Cenestin .625 since a week post-op.

I'm due for my annual, but panicking a bit. Had a raging yeast infection last week after a round of anti-biotics for a sinus infection. Any connection?

This site was very helpful for me before my hyst and I'm hoping you can shed some light.

Please Advise,

Sudden Vaginal Bleeding 4.5 years Later!

Hi (((Olimpia)))
I'm sorry you're having this scare today. You need to call your dr and set up an appt to have this checked. It probably isn't an emergency this morning as long as you aren't in pain, but if it should get to where you are filling a pad an hour be sure to call right away.

There are several reasons women have bleeding so long after a hyst. They can be as simple as vaginal dryness. Here is an article about Post Hysterectomy Bleeding that will give you some information on why this could be happening. I hope it's a simple fix. Please let us know what you find out.

Bleeding Has Stopped

Thanks Rita,

Your link was very helpful. The bleeding seems to have stopped as suddenly as it started. Don't know if it will come back, but I feel better about things at least. Blood was not thick like normal menstrual bleeding, it was a bit transparent. Filled one pantiliner.

I'm due for my annual this month anyway, so I will call doc on Monday and schedule the Appt.

I am guessing it was somehow related to the yeast infection, it was pretty bad. But I will ask doc to call me Monday (he's very good about that) and see if it warrants a more urgent visit.

I will post the results after I see him.

Thanks again! Sometimes just telling someone helps.

Doc says It's an Infection

Doc believes, based on sequence of preceding events and symptoms, that it's a worse than average infection. He called in a script for Diflucan, and wants me to call back in a few days with results.

I have a follow-up office visit in 2 weeks. He says the bleeding or blood tinged discharge is a fairly common phenonmenon.

I feel much better already.......

Cervical Polyp!

Went to Doc yesterday and the cause of the bleeding was a fairly large cervical polyp! He promptly removed it, and no, it didn't hurt. He thinks it's scar tissue that grew, says it happens frequently. I did have an infection, but he saw no trace of it remaining.

The polyp is being sent to pathology, however, he says they are 'overwhelmingly benign.'

Go back in two weeks for follow-up, mostly to see if it healed OK.

Polyp....Who whold have thunk it.....

Thank you for letting us know. I'm glad it didn't hurt to remove and hope it is taken care of for good. I wonder how rare that is, just since I haven't seen it before. I'm sure no doctor though. Take care, hope that's the end of that.
's, Rita
