detrol-la???

I am going for a conal or TVH soon. The DR wants to do the blatter work at the same time.

I have to go back to the URO in 2 weeks for testing and I am waiting to schedule the two DR's to do surgery together.

SO far the URO told me I have two things, stress incontinence and urgency incontinence. The stress one could be helped by the sling, so that is the one she needs the blatter test on.

For the urgency, she gave me detrol-la. I took one the first day and it worked right away! It is amazing that I went 7 hrs without having to pee! It felt like I have a new blatter!!!

I am very happy with this and am thinking I may not even need the sling. I seem to have more control now and even if I have to go, I can wait and don't leak.

Who else is taking or took detrol-la and can you tell me how it worked for you and for how long you took it.. ect.

Thanks!

detrol-la???

I take Detrol LA and have been taking it for about 4 months. I have urgency incontinence but it never was every day. It would happen one or 2 times a week. I would pee, finish up, go back to whatever I was doing and within about 3 to 5 minutes it felt as tho I had to go again, and I would barely make it to the bathroom before a teaspoon of urine came out. I would have to put on a Depends cuz it would just keep happening for about 1 or 2 hours, and then it would stop. Since taking the Detrol LA, it now happens about 1 time every 2 weeks or so on average. So they do help, but they are not 100 percent. The doc guesses its from menopause and may fix itself after I am done with menopause. All I know is I have read so many horror stories on bladder surgery I do NOT want to have any of that done. So as long as the pill is working for me for the most part I will just stick with that. Good luck to you with your bladder issues and surgery.

detrol-la???

Wow that is amazing, I took Detrol LA and all it did was make me retain urine (I couldn't empty my bladder completely). If it has 'fixed' your symptoms, I would take a good long look at surgery and maybe you can postpone for now, until your symptoms get bad again. Hugs.

detrol-la???

I tried Vesicare, Detrol LA & Enablex & they all worked pretty good at first, but then the effectiveness waned after about a week or so. They all gave me dry-mouth, constipation & abdominal pain, but I'm glad to hear that it works for someone!

detrol-la???

Well, I have dry eyes, constipation and stomach cramps (actually feel like menstrual cramps). But I will except those in exchange for bathroom trips every 15 minutes and always afraid I may smell of urine. I go for my first pelvic floor therapy session tomorrow at 8 am. My insurance that I have right now will only cover 2 sessions. But the nurse thinks that with my age she can teach me all I need to know, and I will take the meds for a short period and then hopefully will be all good.

detrol-la???

So far, I am not having as good results as I would like with the Detrol. I started on Monday and I am still have the frequencies (every 40 minutes....that has not changed). I was having really horrible bladder and urethra spasms. The Detrol has calmed that down. Now, if I would stop peeing so much. I have been really bloated since starting it. I also have dry mouth. I am giving it another few days and then stopping if I do not see any results. I wished it worked for me like it did for some of you (how fast).

detrol-la???

I can't take the detrol la due to side effects. It gave me an unbelievable dry mouth, where my mouth felt like it literally had glue in it. No amount of water, coke, or jiuce would make it go away. It was just too much and I discontinued the detrol la. I am still leaking urine....

Thank you for your support. The Detrol kicked in yesterday . I am now on average going about every 1 and half. That is a huge improvement over a few days ago. I hope that it will continue to improve. I am dying to go on a weekend trip (to Hilton Head, SC). I have major cabin fever. I see the DR on Monday, so I am hoping the infection has cleared up and I am on the road to recovery. I am going to ask him about the pelvic floor therapy.
