Bloated

I feel awful tonight. Bloated, back aches, hips ache and just feeling all around BLAH! Why is this happening now when I was feeling so good earlier? I haven't done much today, drank lots of water, no salt, etc. Any ideas?

Bloated

Hi there! I am at my 2 week point from my TAH! Some days I feel great and the next just awful! Yesterday my stomach was so boated, had awful painful gas, the runs and just felt run over - everything was achy! Today, I feel alot better - just painful around the incision and feel like I have pressure down there (appartently very normal from what I have read from other sisters)! This operation has been full of surprises! It is definitely alot worse than I thought it was going to be-I have been a completely wuss with this surgery! I have never felt this much pain and it has never taken me this long to recover- I have had 2 previous c-sections and I was up and about a lot quicker! People had to remind me that I had an organ taken out of my body and there are hundreds of internal stitches! So, are bodies are just recovering and by doing this they are doing some strange things! Try a warm compress on your belly (thats what I did last night with a hot water bottle) maybe take some pain meds and go to bed and rest! If you are still worried about things tomorrow, just give your doctor a ring and I am sure that if there is any concern, they will tell you to come in! I think that you are okay, though! Just take it easy and get lots of rest - trust me, you need it and you deserve it! Take care - hope this helps!

I went through what you are at about the same time in my recovery. That is when I found this site, I was doing really well and then I began to hurt in my back and legs. I didn't know what to do. But what I finally had to do was take some pain medication and sleep. Which was very hard to do. I did not understand why I would be hurting like this, but on this site I found that what I was feeling was from the position that you are in when they do surgery. When I realized what was going on, I was able to relax some and rest. But for about 3 night I couldn't sleep and was in alot of pain. I finally took pain medication and slept. But I took it for a couple of nights. Then I was pass that phase. But it is probably surgery related But as lovinglife33 said you will have good days and and some that are not as good. But it does get better day by day.

Thanks for your input. I took some pain meds last night, which I haven't done in 4 days. Slept pretty good even though DH said I was restless. Got up this morning and my lower back and hips still hurt but not near as bad as last night. I don't feel quite so bloated today. Hubby says TAKE IT EASY...kinda hard when you have a 4 year old at home...lol. Although I have to admit, she likes taking care of mommy.

wickedwoman99-
what you are going thru is part of the normal healing process-- you can have days of euphoria where you feel strong and confident and physically healthier... then you will have days where you come crashing down... try to ride the rollercoaster and know it is all part of the recovery process.
hip pain seems to be common for many sisters here post op, and of course the swelly belly..
good luck and take care of yourself!
