Detrol and Enablex

After my TVH, cystocele repair and TVT sling I was still having leakage issues so both my Urologist and Gynocolost suggested Detrol. I got samples from both of them and was very happy with the results (except for the swelly belly). Now I tried to fill a prescription and my lovely insurance company denied the Detrol (too expensive) and made me try Enablex. I have noticed a significant difference. Enablex is not working as well for me. I was just wondering if anyone out there had tried Enablex and if it takes time to get into your system or if I should fight the insurance company for Detrol. You would think after paying an outrageous amount for my surgery they would pay a small monthly amount to help keep the urine leakage and bladder spasm under control.
Any advice on getting the prescriptions that work for me?

Detrol and Enablex

I am so sorry that you are having to go through this. I have tried Enablex in the past and did not see any results (I have IC). I have also tried Ditropan (many attempts at that one). Neither of those worked for me. I have been on Detrol for a week and one day. AMAZING!! It does cause bloating, but I will take that any day over peeing every 30 to 45 minutes. I have heard that Enablex will take up to 4 weeks to see any results. If Detrol worked for you, I would fight with the insurance company. Maybe having your DR write a note to them explaining that this is the only med that works for you.

Good luck!!!

Get your doc to write a note, meanwhile ask the doc for samples. He/She may have a huge stash and will be willing to give you samples. Another thing is contact the manufacture and see if they have a patient assistance program.

Detrol and Enablex

I did have samples- over 3 weeks worth which is how I know it worked. Thanks for all the advice- I will call him and ask for a note to send to the insurance company. I have a feeling he was thinking it might not work since he only wrote the script for 30 days with 1 refill. When he write the script for Detrol he wrote it for a whole year.

Detrol and Enablex

I've tried Enablex and am to start detrol tomorrow...so I can't compare them..but..when i tried enablex..she said it'd take...I can't remember how long...but a week or a couple of weeks to make a difference - i never noticed a difference. I tried 2 different dosages and neither worked. I'm supposed to start Detrol LA tomorrow and am anxious to see if I'll see any improvement.

I hope the Detrol works for you. I started on a Monday and I saw a HUGE difference by that Thursday (I was going every 1 and half vs. 30 to 45 minutes). By the weekend , I actually had some times where I went as long as 3 hours!!!! on average, I am going about every 2 hours during the day and sleeping through most nights.

Detrol and Enablex

I don't even know what it'd be like to sleep through the night (without wetting the bed -*embarassed*- which I did until I was 18 and started finally waking up to pee).

I really hope that it works as well for you as it has me. I have been on it a little over a week. I pray that it does not stop working. I am just so ready to feel GREAT again. It has been close to 10 years since I felt "normal".

I hope so too. I'm glad to read so many rave reviews. I never count my eggs until they're hatched though

Good luck to you!!

Detrol and Enablex

Hi, I have never tried Detrol. I take Enablex..it took at least 3 weeks to start working. I can go 4 hours sometimes..I have ic. I did have to have the dose increased..so who knows how long it will help me. Good luck to you.
