I just had my TVH yesterday and am home today. All went surprisingly well. Other than some bad gas pains, I feel better than I expected I would. Tough thing for me will be staying down. I have two young kids and my own business. Luckily, I have an incredible husband who took the first week of my recovery off and a wonderful employee who is handling the business. Many thanks to the HysterSisters website. The information available is of great value and the support is so helpful.

My stay in the castle was from Tuesday to Today, it was unevenful, morphine filled dreams. I am doing well.

I had a TVH, A&P repair, bladder repair with sling placed under urethra. Surgery was a success. Morphine pump was my best friend except when I started to move around I got sick. Cath was taken out the next day and several hours later could not pee. They did the "relief" cath and again we tried a couple of hours after that, no luck. So back in went the cath. I was started on some med to make the bladder contract. Finally the next day I was able to go. Still having some issues going but at least I am home. Dr said my bladder is not used to being in the "proper" position so it has to learn how to go again. LOL at least i am not dribbling everywhere. Anyway everyday is getting easier and better. Thanks to all the support I had before surgery. Love to all of you!!

I know what you mean about the bladder not being in the right position. My uterus was holding my bladder hostage so to speak, it was wrapped around my bladder. Going to the bathroom was interesting at first and it still feels funny.

My back has started hurting, which I think is because of my back muscles over compensating for my stomach muscles being on strike right now.
I took a shower yesterday, by myself, and that was heaven

I have found that using my maternity pillow is the best thing for me getting comfortable at night, it is shapped like a snack, awesome long narrow pillow. I love it.

Exactly!!! My Dr said my uterus & bladder were fighting for space. LOL And I'm glad to hear its not just my back. I stood in the shower this am until there was no more hot water. I also use a pillow for comfort, but mine is an "old" faithful" body pillow. Its so nice to know you all are out there.

I had my TAH on the 6th, got home from the hospital on the 8th and got my staples out today. Overall I am feeling pretty good. The stay in the castle wasn't too bad, just didn't much rest with the checking in on you all the time. Glad to be home n my own bed! Much thanks to everyone on this website for the moral support during this time.

Hi Sisters....
well surgery was Feb. 5th...not bad at all. I never needed additional pain meds and not even ibubrofen since the second day. I did however have to have a Jackson-Pratt drainage bulb put in place...what a pain, but am hoping to have it out this Monday the 12th. My pathology hasn't come back yet...which I think is good since the diagnosis of cancer had come back the next day. The doctor said the cancer was much smaller than he had thought and still believes that I was an early stage 1. For all you sisters about to go under...the worst part for me was the phospo-soda stuff you had to do the day before surgery. Really the whole hysterectomy thing was a breeze. Thought I might have had my first night sweat but was laughing cuz now I feel it was that I had the heat on too high...lol. My sister stayed with me throughout the first night in the hospital and has treated me like the princess I am....she will be leaving today and I will miss her company and help. Again for those sisters about to have the surgery..don't sweat it..for me it was a breeze..oh yeah...finally had a poop...was getting worried and then my kitty jumped on my tummy..ouch..first time i've cried..but then just a short hour later and I pooped..i thank the kitty...lol
