book, great news on the check-up

lotsofbears, way to go with the exercise

cindy, i'm with you and starting a little slower, but did more today than I have in weeks. I believe my dr. was correct, to work through it and it will help recovery

singingmad, sounds like a fun time, hanging out on the beach. Enjoy.

nanette, I too still have pain and a really uncomfortable feeling, but I'm going to take my drs. advice and just push myself and see if that works, since sitting around is not.

bookah! I think I'd put a constant 30 pound lifting limit on myself. Why would you WANT to lift more than that????

I just like people to feel sorry for me. Just kidding I don't know hauling around 2 kids and cleaning up after three (including my dh) I encounter the 30 pound limit on a daily basis. I also hate, hate, hate to go back and forth from the car to the house so if I go to the store I try to bring all the bags in at once. If I have my dd in her car seat I grab the diaper bag and my purse and the mail to go inside. I just always feel like I am in a hurry but I think I need to step back and slow down or I'm going to burn out

I do that carrying all the grocery bags in the house at once thing... but I learned my lesson when I damaged a tendon in my elbow doing that! Now I TRY to limit myself to 4 bags or so at a time.... and get someone to help me while I"m doing it. But 30 pounds is a significant amount of weight and I think too it depends on HOW you're carrying it. Somehow carrying a grocery bag is NEVER the same as carrying a kid! LOL Groceries don't wiggle in my experience!

Hi, all. I have the day off so can actually post while most of you are awake. I did allow myself to have a nice sleep in this morning though.

Bookah, I'm glad to hear your checkup went well.

Pocono, I don't know where my periodic pain comes from but assume it's from general swelling when I do too much. It's kind of like an achy, burning sensation. My bladder bothers me too and then it's hard to pee until the swelling goes down. I'm glad to hear you're doing better in general, though.

LotsofBears, that's great that you have such understanding bosses.

Singingmad, for some reason I think this surgery has made us all stop and re-think the pace and intensity of our lives. I hope you have a fabulous time in Florida. You do deserve it.

Add me to the list of ladies that hates to carry in the grocery bags!

"Hi" also to Princess, Couch and cbrn (hope I didn't miss anybody). Hugs to all.

Hi everyone. I finally got my hair done today. It came out well if I do say so myself. The place I went to does massages and facials but the girl was not in today. I was really seriously considering going for it and pampering myself but the girl not being there put a stop to that. My hair was really looking bad so glad I finally got it done.

Bookah - I am so sorry to hear about your dh's pain. It must be so hard for him especially having to pick up such heavy things. I was told by one neurologist to never pick up anything more than 5 pounds. That was only a couple of years ago so good thing my kids were already too old for me to pick up.

Singingmad - Have a great time in Florida. You most definitely deserve it.

Ok - I am not sure but I think it was Cindy who mentioned the radio frequency denervation (that I wrote down). I have never heard of it so will do some research about it and then ask the dr. As I said I am hoping after the shots I can really seriously get back to exercising and physical therapy. I was at the hairdresser for 3 1/2 hours today and my leg and lower back were killing me just sitting there. I had my hair colored and high lights which is what took so long.

I can't believe how many people have back problems. I am very nervous about the shots but feel I have no choice.

The good news my tummy only felt very slightly sore after sitting at the hairdresser that long and I cleaned my bathrooms myself for the 1st time since surgery (they have been cleaned by dh but not as often as I would have wanted) and did not feel any pulling whatsoever.

June - I hope if it has to snow that it is gone fast so that you don't have to move in it.

We are suppose to get snow Sunday into Monday. I could be wrong but I get the feeling that we are going to go from winter straight to summer. I wanted to buy some plants and have the kids help me but I don't know if that is going to happen. Most everything we plant anyway gets eaten by the deer. They are so aggressive that my girlfriend once helped me put this thin wiring around my plants (which she and I had planted and spent hours on) and the deer really did this. Went up to the fence poked their nose at it to see if it was sharp - it was not bec I did not want them to hurt themselves so the deer walked backwards ran and jumped over the fence to get to the flowers. My kids started yelling at the deer to get away and I just started laughing figuring if the deer want the plants that badly to jump over the fence they deserve to have them.

Catnapper - I am surprised to see you on during the day but read the other thread. I posted it there but will say it again. Hope you had a great day off. I thought it was unusual to see you posting during the day.

I know I am going on and on again. Sorry. To anyone I missed have a great day.

P.S. I was very surprised and very happy my ds went for a bike ride today but I gave them a very limited spot to ride around until he is completely healed.
to everyone.

Ok, I am seriously getting confused bec I posted things on the other thread that I think should go here.

Singingmad - Have a great time in Florida. You and dp deserve it.

Bookah - so glad your appt. went well.

I posted this on the other thread. I cleaned the bathrooms for the first time myself since surgery and felt no pain or pulling.

I have not done food shopping yet since surgery (by myself - I went with dh last week) but will probably start next week. I also carry in like 4 bags at a time even though I am not suppose to but what I do to is only bring up the bags that have to be refrigerated and then my kids bring up the other stuff when they come home from school and will put the stuff away for me.

Catnapper - I thought I was right when I saw you posting early in the day. Hope you enjoyed your day off.

Talk to everyone later.

Hi, girls. We're having some strange spring weather in central Ill., too. It was fairly warm this morning and then it hailed and poured rain (glad my car was in the garage). Tonight we're supposed to get more rain and then possibly snow...nothing like you're getting in MI or WI though.

Pocono, sorry you have such trouble with back and leg pain. I don't know if this will help, but was wondering if you're sleeping on the right kind of mattress. If the one you have is too hard or soft it can aggravate your pain and keep you from sleeping.

My dh and I were going to buy a temperapedic even though they are so expensive but after doing the research found out most people feel they don't work well after a couple of years. I am sorry to say and I know it is not helping my back/leg pain in the long run but most nights I end up on the couch because it is soft enough where I can at least get 3 or 4 hours of sleep straight. On our mattress I only last 1 1/2 hours.
Thanks for caring.
