bookah I can ask my DP pros and cons for you. She used to be director for diagnostic imaging at a local hospital and I know they did those regularly. But I don't have any personal experience. I can imagine how worried you are though. I'm sending positive thoughts that it will be benign and something that can be treated without TOO much trouble, cause you've been THROUGH your trouble for this year (at least in my book!).
That honkerblonkering thing IS funny.... I used to work somewhere that had a scanner on our emails... it had certain words programmed to delete and we discovered that one of them was coffeemaker! What a weird word to focus on... so a friend of mine sent me an email spelling it coffee maker.... rather than one word... she wrote that over and over and over. I guess it made her feel good to have "gotten around" the screeners! LOL

Singingmad, If you would ask I would really appreciate it. I know that if I do have cancer it is one of the easiest to treat but, I don't want cancer. Who does. Anyway, I had the radioactive uptake scan in November and I really don't want to expose myself to that much radiation again. I am wondering her take on the most accurate test. I am leaning towards a needle biopsy but I still haven't heard from my Doctor.

Hey bookah! I sent her a quick email. I don't think she's all that busy today so she may get back to me this afternoon, otherwise I"ll chat with her about it tonight and see if she has any thoughts. When the nurse recommended another scan did you mention your concern over just having had one recently? I'll let you know as soon as I hear anything from my DP.... she's usually pretty good about that, but sometimes simply recommends you discuss any concerns with your doctor. But she WOULD know if there is any information on multiple scans being done having a negative effect. Needle biopsies would probably have to be done anyway... is that an option INSTEAD of the scan?

Not feeling terribly brilliant tonight. A bit depressed. The blood blister above my scar has finally burst. It is so tiny but I will let my doctor have a look next week. It seem that quite a lot of us have a piece of scar tissue that took a long time to heal or is bumpy and irregular. I wonder why that is? I still swell and hurt especially at night and am writing this hugging a hot water bottle. My poor ds has had a compaint made against him at Church. At the moment we dont know what it is. Someone was upset by ds's behaviour during a service at Easter. He has low self confidence. It makes me feel sad too. I feel very protective towards him as he is my only child. I'm offering up prayers for those in the group who are facing doctors appointments and scans this week. I'll post when I'm feeling a bit brighter.

Well, I just called my GP and the nurse put me on hold. When she came back she said the doctor will hold off on the radioactive uptake scan but wants to schedule a consult. I already had a consult scheduled for May 1 b/c she always wants to see me after I have diagnostic testing so I scheduled it last time I was in.

I ended up calling my insurer b/c I have an HMO and I would really like to see a thyroidologist. They told me that they just made their insurance PPO for everyone so as long as the thyroidologist is in their network (which he is) I can go. So I called the specialist and they are closed on Fridays.

I just feel like at this point I need to see a specialist. I am very nervous and I think they would be best equipped to help. Singingmad, if your DP has any info I would love to hear it. I am the type that likes to swim in information rather than sink in ignorance, it keeps me occupied while my nerves are a wreck.

I will keep you all posted and thanks again.

I'm sending my prayers to all who have to have tests or scans newxt week. I'm feeling quite depressed tonight. My son who is only nine has had a complaint directed at him at Church. Somebody complained about his behaviour in Church over Easter. He is devastated as he suffers from low self esteem. We dont know who the complaint was from or what he was supposed to be doing. He was crying and to the point of almost making himself sick. I have calmed him down and he is in bed but if he is hurting then I am too. Not sure if I want to belong to a congregation that can make hurtful comments if he has done nothing wrong. It is frightful. So they have to manage without me too. Not sure whether I want to belong to the choir after this. Feel very sad.

Bookah I have just read your post. You are sounding very brave. If it was me I would want as much information about my condition as possible. If your insurers will pay for you to see the thyroidologist then that is the route you must take. I hope it all goes well for you.

Bookah, I would also want as much information as possible. Good luck with everything.

Bagpus - I am so sorry. That is terrible. I can't see how someone can say things to upset a child. I have always said just because someone goes to church, temple, synagogue or whatever does not make them a good person. I hope I don't offend anyone by saying that. I know it is so hard bec as you said when your child hurts you hurt as the parent.
I think you should check out other churches to see if there is another one you would rather join. There are other choirs. Let me know if anything else happens. I would also want to know what exactly the people are saying that your son did. And you know what, even if he did do something wrong no one has the write to make him cry. Take care.

I'm so sorry for your son Bagpuss. People can be heartless but I have never heard of an anonymous tip of child misbehaving in church. I would recommend seeking out a more loving, accepting congregation. Good luck to you.

Aww Bagpuss, I'm so sorry to hear that you've been down in the dumps/ I had a "revisit" of pain this week, just fleeting but I've felt lo energy and blah all week. The sun came out finally; here on the east coast we've been under the gray skies for more than a week. I had one of those blood blisters earlier in my recovery. And you ask a good question; why do some heal differently than others? I've had C-section and a laparotomy before and those were tougher for me to recover from. This surgery has not been too bad actually. What a shame that someone has complained about your son!!!! That would make me mad and I don't blame you. Can't they talk to you about it? It seems so subversive. Was it an elderly person that never had children??? I've got you in my thoughts and prayers; hang in there, Better days are coming.
