Hi Nan, well I went to the GI and of course another scoping of some sort ;-( No too bad though he wants to do a flexible sigmoidoscopy in his office. The dr read all my health issues since he last saw me a year an a half ago and couldn't believe it. Well my BM problems he feels are medicated related. I am on three different meds that can cause constipation. So we changed ant acid meds and of course up the fiber and he will check to make sure nothing other than the good old hemmroids (I know TMI) are causing anything else. He also told me that my HEMATOMA was NOT from the hysterectomy but from my CARDIAC CATH. Nice huh here I thought all along it was the opposite. He read the report to me and explained it. No wonder my surgeon was not alarmed when he heard about the hematoma. He said I healed really well and when he saw my surgeon he was going to tell him what a nice job he did. He asked me who did the surgery because it looked great. He felt my stomach and everything and said all sounded and looked great. I was so relieved to hear this. he told me back in )ctober of 2005 that he thought my GI problems were gyn issues and he was right. He also says he cannot say it enough about how bad endometreosis is for women and unless there are signals and sypmtoms to alert a dr and or patient they won't look for it. He sent a letter to all of my DR'S five in all to let them know what he found and what he suspects. He sees these other DR'S in the hospital so it was comforting to know that he was and is familiar with them. Oh by the way my sister was just diagnosed with fibroids and follicular ovarian cysts as I am/was. I hope that she doesn't end up with the same problems. She will turn 50 this year and that is how old I was when I started really having pain and she is just starting too. Well, better get going. Now I know why my belly hurts me its my digestive track not digesting. Have to wake it up and get it moving. See you later.

Bookah, I'm glad to hear that your appt. went well. It sounds like your persistance in pushing to see a specialist paid off.

Froggie, good to hear from you. I'm glad you're feeling good.

Theresa, I feel your pain. I can't blame it on meds though...just must not be getting enough fiber and water.

Hi, Nan. I sent you a PM. Talk to you later.

Hugs to everyone.

Cat I am getting more than my fare/fair share of water and fiber believe me. At night my stomach is so distended from water. I had a small intestine blockage they found at the time of my hysterectomy so that had to be resected. I am on 10 different meds 3 of which cause constipation. I can drink and eat all the prunes in the world eat oatmeal, raisin bran, eat raisins, eat whole bran you name it and nothing. I get so sick by days end just trying to make myself try to get something normal going and even have taken stool softeners and some natural laxatives. NADA. So two weeks ago I did a little experiment after some investigating and found out thru eliminating one RX that I had a somewhat better BM for three days in a row. Yippee then I had to go back on the med and the bowels went right back to it again. So the dr chnage the RX to something different and we'll see starting tommorrow what happens. Other than that I feel pretty good. Go figure. Oh yeah now I have carpal tunnel in both hands and I am a seamstress. So have to see a DR about this one. Does it ever end? Hey the GYN problems have. ALL SMILES ABOUT THAT!

Theresa, if its not one thing, its another, huh? I was on my way to getting carpal tunnel in my right hand and fortunately it cleared up. The doc told me to look at changing the way I crochet and let it rest a little. I found that using a smaller hook makes it flare up so I guess I'll never become a great maker of lace. Are you a full time seamstress and do you do a lot of handwork?

Hi Laura,
I use to sew a lot until this past year when all of my problems started gyn then heart attack. I have been slowly getting back into the sewing, I think its more of being able to concentrate on a project now. My brain since the surgery and heart attack are a little out of sync. I think with some time and feeling better it will all come around again. I am currently trying to bead my daughters wedding gown but it is so hard with my hands being this way. I use to sew for a professional dance company making costumes and tutus (my favorite). I also make dance competition costumes and do some theatre costuming. I did some work for a brain injured institute in Philadelphia making things for the children. That was different and unique. My last major project was my granddaughters christening gown this past January and her mommies wedding gown in October of 2004. I am wondering if maybe holding the baby and feeding her may have caused this carpal tunnel. I also catch myself sleeping with my hands on an angle, you know bent wrist. My mother could crochet but I couldn't get into it. I dislike sewing hook n eyes and buttons. Go figure. My doctor today looked at my chart and when I saw him last in 2005, I was only taking three meds and I thought that I was in great shape then and now I am on ten. Overall I guess once I get the kinks worked out of me I'll be ok. ( wishful thinking huh) You know when I look back the biggest thing I was taking was my prevacid and then the hydrocodone came to play 1x a day for my legs and then it was the ambien to help me sleep. Then it got to the hydrocodone 5x a day for my back pain all in a matter of months this ovarian cyst just blossomed and said hi here I am in all of my glory. So I go in an have the surgery done everything was great back pain was down was able to cut my pain meds down and starting to feel great. Then the night of the heart attack I was thinking another hot flash what do I know I am new to this game. So my EMT son says mom go to the ER women have different sypmtoms. So I did and so he was right. A heart attack and three days later a cardiac cath then a stent the same time. Upon release from the hospital it was another 7 meds to take plus the nitro tablets to always carry. That is the scarrier part. Well maybe after my three June DR app't everyting will calm down or not. But you are right if its not one thing its another.

Theresa, you sure have had more than your share of health problems recently. It's time you had a break so I hope this is a better year for you. I'm glad your son had the expertise to know what was going on when you had your heart attack. There's been a lot more attention paid to women's heart issues in the past few years because our symptoms aren't the classic ones that we hear about men having. I've heard it feels like really bad indigestion. Is that how you felt?

From what I understand about carpal tunnel, gripping anything will make it worse. I found that when I relaxed my grip on the crochet needle it got a bit better. Sometimes when we're concentrating on something I think we tense up. Beading involves a lot of small parts though so I know that will be hard to do.

Going to bed now. Take care.

hi Cat, My symptoms were no were near the classic. I swallowed a sip of cold water and got and instant pain right in the sternum. It would come and go but it was stabbing. I thought it was from the cold water. But then the pain progressed over the next 45 minutes but it went up into my RIGHT shouldeer then down the Right arm but it was still coming and going. Then it was so scary when the pain went into the back of my neck. I went to the hospital and after two cardiac enzymes they detected the heart attack. So another that was the extent of that one. But my son was right women's symptoms are different. Good thing I listen to MY KID for a change.

Hello everyone, I hope all is well. I am hanging in there, still taking my meds, still not sleeping either. My dd is getting ready to go to the fertility clinic to learn to chart, my grandmother has cancer and is not doing well(my dad's mom), and I have a ganglion cyst on my wrist that will most likely need surgery, so while I am still on medical leave I will have it done. I had the other wrist done last year. So there is never a dull moment in my life. A nice long vacation right about now would be awesome. My dh may get his laser spine surgery soon and it is in Florida, not that we could vacation much but we can just relax. My family will look after my two kids (19 & 16), so it will be just the two of us.Take care everyone, I will chat soon.

Hey Guinea, guess how they used to treat ganglion cyst in prehistoric days. Whack it with a big thick book to flatten it back out! Makes surgery sound slightly more appealing. Wishing you and your dh well.

Hi ladies. Sounds like good things are coming to almost all of you. Progress all around.

I've been having a blast exercising, trying on a new smaller size of clothes and visiting my older children. I found out today that my oldest son, 24 y/o, will be joining my daughter, 22 y/o, and getting married next year. Thankfully the weddings will be a few months apart. I'm still waiting to see if our 23 y/o son is going to join in too. That's what we get for having them so close together. Thank goodness the 16 y/o doesn't have a girlfriend.

I have had so few problems after the surgery, I feel blessed. The exercises sometimes cause the surgery site to ache and one side of the incision is still numb, but other than that...no problems.

Well have a good week. I'll check in with my h.sisters next weekend.
