joyteam--I teach 4th grade. First three periods are Science. I'm usually on my feet most of the morning. Then I work with small groups with Reading in the afternoon and can sit then. I took 6 weeks because that's the norm here. I had not even considered 8 weeks but now I wished I had because I do have the sick time if needed. Before the surgery though I was more worried about testing which is at the end of April. I wanted to have time to prepare my kids. If I had realized how hard this would be I would have taken 8 weeks which would have then led into Spring Break and then would have had nearly 10 weeks off.
Everybody and their second cousin said, "Oh in two weeks you'll be feeling great and then you can enjoy the last 4 weeks." I even felt guilty for taking as much time as I was. Boy, was I totally out to lunch on this. If anybody ever asks me I'm going to tell them to take off as long as possible!! Luckily for me my husband is totally aware how difficult this has been and has made comments that I would not be able to jump right back into cleaning and grocery shopping. So, at least I'm not feeling pressure there. He's worried about me teaching next week. Keeps telling me I'll need to sit

Kappel - good luck with going back to work next week. Your dh is right. Don't sit for too long or stand for too long and walk around the room a lot if you can. My dh has been great also and is just happy that I have started doing some little things like driving for 10 minutes yesterday. Take care.

I was having trouble sleeping and read to take calcium prior to bedtime. Since taking the calcium I sleep through the night or might wake up once to pee but then right back to sleep. Maybe it can work for you.

Wow, congratulations for being able to do so much already. I still have 3 more weeks off of work and I'm not feeling like I could go back to teaching 4th and 5th graders all day anytime before the 3 weeks are up. Take it easy and remember to listen to your body. If you ache, take a break!!

Kappel,
I teach 4th and 5th grade!! What a coincidence. Take it easy and make the kids do for you!! People always say at their age, they should do more than we do. I am in my 21st year and still love every minute of it. I was worried about testing too, such similar worries as yours! I have a great long-term substitute who is carrying out all of my plans as I left for the entire absence. I just hope when I return my class still wants to work as hard as I made them before. Oh well, that's life! Try not to overdo it and I am happy your dh knows that you can't be Superwoman just yet.

Hey Tia3573,
Thanks for putting my mind at rest!!! I usually love to watch the Food Network, however since surgery, I can hardly watch it. And I also can not drink pop/soda, mainly because of the gas it gives me. Even Chocolate doesn't taste that great.....oh my goodness!!! I keep thinking that the taste buds will return soon, but keeping in mind that our bodies have been through so much in a short period of time. I'm also on the patch, not sure if that has anything to do with it. About the only thing that does taste okay is vanilla yogurt!! Yummy.

Hi All,

Today has been a little better, babysat my dgs, he is almost 4 months and it was really hard not to hold him, dh was so cute with him, doing all the work, feeding him, changing him and making sure that he was next to me for cuddleing and tickling.

I walked for about 20 min's today it was about 60 outside and the sun was shining, did some grocery shopping and made dinner too. My dh has been really great too, with helping around the house and not waking me up. He hasn't complained once other than he thinks that I keep trying to do to much.

I hope that my dr's goes ok, would love to start working out again, I think that because I am so bored I am eating lots more than I should. I really feel like a total cow, but, it could just be the swelly belly. I am so afraid to put on jeans or even dress pants. I can't wear sweats to the office, it may be dress casual, but not casual enough for the sweats or pj's. Maybe I can buy some of that lotion that has a slight tan in it and wear dresses with no hose? Anyone know when the swelly belly is suppose to stop happening?

Bagpuss45, I am worried about having fun at the playground w/dh also, I was in so much pain during the last year when we did that we stopped altogether 6 months ago. I sure hope that I remember how, and I don't get to afraid. I had a fibroid that had pinned my cervix backwards OUCH. That is all gone now and hopefully all is well. I go to dr on 21st next week, we will see what he says. My libidio is back though and I haven't experienced that in a long time, so my dh is having fun frustrating me......not funny.

I wish everyone luck that sees dr this week, and all that are going back to work. Hopefully the energy picks up for me. I am going to try and get up at 8am tomorrow, hopefully it will work.

Hi All
glad to hear so many are mending - I took one big bang backward - I fell hard on my kitchen floor - and a bit of my incision is puckering and two tiny gaps - so I was taking it super easy! -
