LAVH - 2 days post-op and feeling great
I'm 2 days post op and feeling great. My decision to have a hyst came because I was having miserable, long and very painful periods since I had my daughter 16 months ago. I am only 32 and had wanted more kids so it was hard to do. Now that it is over I am trying to focus on the positive aspects of how my life will change.
I checked into the hospital 2 hours prior to surgery, got changed into my lovely gown, talked to the nurses and was wheeled back. I remember being put on the table and the doc covering my face with oxygen and telling me it was sleepy time.
Next thing I remember was being in the recovery room and was hyperventilating from being in so much pain. It took a long time and alot of whining on my part before they got it under control.
Once I was stable, they wheeled me up to my room where my husband was waiting for me. It was so nice to see him!
Within a couple of hours I was feeling really good and decided to be pro active and take a walk. My nurse was pretty aloof (lazy) and could have cared less if I sat in bed all night, but I wanted to go home ASAP so I had to take matters into my own hands. After walking I really had to pee, I did not have a catherter so I was on my own and it was really hard, I tried 3 seperate times before anything came out. The first few times I went potty it was a struggle, but it did get easier.
By hour 6 post op I had eaten a sandwich, walked about 3 times and was doing really well. My doc came in at 8 am and was very pleased with my progress and told me I could go home. I was still uncomfortable so I went to bed and slept all day and night. Today I feel great, with the exception of some bloating and gas, I am fine. You would never guess I just had such major surgery.
The hardest part is not picking up my daughter, but I am grateful for such an easy recovery. I had a great doctor, and am thankful that it is finally over.
Anyway, this site helped me a lot, and I hope my post helps someone else.
