uncomfortable when sitting

Ladies,

I have not been able to sit comfortably since hyst. I'm continuing to have a lot of tailbone pain and some low back pain. Really bad in the evenings and have to lay on side to get to sleep because tailbone also hurts some when laying on back. Better in the morning. Driving is especially uncomfortable. I do have a cystocele which I can feel - like a small ball. Does anyone have any ideas - could I have a rectocele also? What are symptoms of that? Thanks for any advice.

Tammy, in its simplest terms,
A rectocele is a prolapse or bulge of the rectum into the vagina. It happens because the fascia between the two is torn; usually because of childbirth (tears, epiosotomy) but sometimes because of chronic constipation or coughing. Symptoms can be very different from person to person but when they warrant treatment, they often include: the feeling of a mass in the vagina, pain with intercourse, vaginal bleeding, vaginal irritation, the feeling of trapped stool in the rectum, incomplete voiding of bowel movements, low back pain, and a few others. You don't have to have every one to have a rectocele. Usually a high fiber diet and drinking 6-8 glasses of water a day is recommended to avoid constipation and straining both of which worsen a rectocele. The only way to be truly diagnosed is to have yourself examined by a doctor trained to recognize them. UroGYN (urogynecologist) is the specialist most known as a pelvic floor specialist that can identify rectoceles but colorectal surgeons can and are usually well-trained to do so also.

Hope this info helps a little. Sending S......
