Don't forget the chapstick!!!

The pull-down menu that gives suggestions for the trip to the hospital was helpful, but I confess I packed much more lightly than that. But the one thing I omitted I really yearned for later was the chapstick. Your lips will be so dry from all the medication. Please be smarter than I was and take a good supply.

Don't forget the chapstick!!!

Hey Judy,
We are almost neighbors (Springfield)
I have a new, unopened tube in my bag ready to take. My DH informed me to pack light, he has to carry everything out for me. Take care and thanks for the advice.

About chapstick...this is something I can't live without. I got this suggestion on this site somewhere...I hate to encourage sneaky behavior but sometimes we must bend the rules a little, right? I was "allowed" to bring these things on the day of surgery: the clothes on my back and (ah, ha) my glasses case. So I smuggled in a tube of chapstick in the glasses case! As soon as I woke up in recovery enough to need to see, they gave me back my glasses and WooHoo...I had chapstick I was then a happier camper!

Pass it on...

Don't forget the chapstick!!!

Oh yes!

I gave a chapstick to my mom before I was wheeled into the OR and told her to smear my lips as soon as I came out of the recovery room!

Packing light...

I learned from taking students to Europe that a light packer is a smart packer. however, the omission of the chapstick was clearly a no-no. I am glad that I did not have a lot of my stuff to carry since my son had to cart out bunches of gorgeous flowers. I have great friends ( and sons!). Good luck to my Springfield neighbor who heads in on the 18th. My recovery is going well after some slight problems at the hospital which would have been avoided if I had requested someone to watch my iv more closely. The woman in the next bed had her DH spend the night. That is a nice thing if it can be arranged. Woul love to hear from any of the other D-Day princesses and how you are doing.
