Hi Hyster Sisters.. thought I'd give you a RECAP.. but first, Dianne, I am so sorry about what you are going through. You should definitely be getting more information. They owe that to you!!

I'm at my 3-WEEK POST OP.. TAH with BSO.. or SOB <you get the point> little dry humor there..

WEEK 1: Pain, pain, pain.. night sweats which only lasted a few days. I truly believe it was drug withdrawal. Not hungry for a few days while having some very weird food cravings. Used heavy meds only a couple days then wanted off.. the drugs themselves made me feel emotionally horrible. So I got off everything within a few days home from hospital and was allowed by Dr. to take low-dose of xanex to sleep. This med has been wonderful as I get great night's sleep and don't have to use pain meds. Doc said short period of time will not lead to addiction. First bowel movement OUCH. Gas pains for days were excruciating. Urniation was fine..

Week 2: Less pain, extreme fatigue.. hunger returned. Have lost weight.. now this is a positive thing. I tell everyone I used the SOUTH HOSPITAL DIET!! LOL!!! Hopefully, I'll keep it off!! By end of week two, I had post-op doc appt. Said everything was healing fine and I could drive..Still had burning sensations at times, right side knot feeling at times, began hormone replacement.. by 2 1/2 weeks, started spotting light brown like many of you have mentioned...Also, I was not having problems with bowel movements until I start HRT. That seemed to cause a little constipation. Decided to drive and take a very slow walk near beach. Felt really good.. PAID FOR IT LIKE A B**** yesterday.. extreme pain above right incision. Felt like a constant muscle spasm and thought I would have to take pain meds again but made it through without them. Thought I ripped stitches or hurt myself..Oh Gawd, and now I just read about how I could have caused scar adhesions which are not good!! I sure hope I didn't!! I took it easy all day yesterday and slept with my xanex last night about 10 hours.. today I feel SO much better. Hopefully, I learned my lesson about over-doing it. The driving should have been enough let alone driving AND taking a walk.

Week 3.. starting today.. feel much better after yesterday's rest. With the low dose of Premarin, at this point I do not have very many menapausal symptoms (hopefully for now on God!!) . I see the doc again in about 2 1/2 weeks. I hope to change to bioidenticals one day, which are much more natural but for now, I just do what doc says..

Well, that's my recap. I love hearing all of your stories too. Again, this Hyster Sister thing is just awesome!

I'm back. 29 yo, no kids, 3 post op, modified radical hysterectomy on 2/22/07.
The pain is not bad, the swelling in my stomach has decreased, but considering I was already grossly obese, I guess it doesn't make much of a difference. It's not like I am wearing a swimsuit anytime soon.
I have lupus (to complicate all other things) and the fatigue is just overwhelming at times. I am trying to do a little more each day so that I can get back into the swing of things.
The depression seems to be weighing the most in my life right now. The feeling of never becoming a natural mother is just upsetting.

The pain comes and goes, but it's nowhere near where it was when I got surgery weeks ago.

I hope all is well with everyone.

I really thought I broke something internally! I left a message for my Dr. and 2 hours later I got a call from the pharmacy that my vicodin was ready for pick up. Guess she thought I was more concerned about my left side. I still had some "leftovers" from the other prescription; what I'd really like is to stop "leaking". Guess I'll bring it up on Wed.
Anybody know what to expect from a post-op visit?
my post op visit was kinda of like an anual, but she just checked for healing and any infections no pushing ect. Little tender when she inserted the spec. but not to bad.

My doc said 8 weeks, cause of vaginal repairs, but strictly stated no " entry thru either door" but said I could have a certain other thing. That this would not cause infection or any complications. Been real hard on both of us.

Does any body know how to get the smilies to work?????

Martin , hang in there I also have lupis and fibromyalgia.. its a hard road for you and I as our healling times are greater than most ... The deppression for you has a double edged sord see some one to help you thru it there is a drug for deppression that has very few of the ussaul side effects it was also made for woman not the general public ask you doctor about a short trail to help you get over this hump....its called Lexapro....cry when you need to cry ...when you feel up to it go for a walk.....(short walk) Ive had a lot more fatugue in the last couple of weeks since my hysterectomy every afternoon i come home from work (as I had no choice but to go back at 2 weeks post op)and i take a 2 to 3 hour nap....my job is easy thank god all i really have to do is light house work and keep my client company for 4 hours a day but even that is very drainning....

hey there, to get the smiles to work you need to go to advanced thread and when you see the small box on the right with the smilies on it click on more, then click the top right box to expand the page and scroll down to what you want, click on the image and then minimise the page, your chosen smilie will show as writing while you are still typing but when you post your reply it will show the smilie!

it was 4 weeks yesturday since my tvh. i feel great now! im doing the housework and running the kids to and from school. im hanging out washing and wearing my skinny jeans etc. im a stay at home mum so im not at work and do just chill while the kids and hubbie are out all day so i am taking it easy in some ways.

i had a real big cry last night as i should have been due for my aunt flo visit last monday and it didn't come, its nice not having her around but the no more babies thing is still hard to accept for this 28yr old. hubbie was very supportive and gave me lots of hugs and that helped but i guess that i will get used to the idea over time!

i have lost the preggie tummy look and now just have my regular pot belly from my 2 babies and im really looking foward to going back to the gym.

im also really looking foward to the nighttime activities!!! im so frustrated! i feel fine!!! but all the stitching etc inside has to heal and i dont want to risk an infection but its so hard to be good! anyone else feeling this way? :burning:

I am at 3 weeks post-op yesterday and for the first time I am feeling...normal. I know this is TMI, but I had my frst normal BM without a full bottle of Milk of Mag to help. It was a little rough but very relieving at the same time! I always have problems with that area! Gees! I do still get the swelling int e belly though, and when it does there is NO fitting into my jeans, it istight and uncomfortable! I feel great in the early am then if I try to do too much, i swell and by evening, I am miserable and have to lay down. I also noticed that driving, riding in the car aggravates my belly pain. All that vibration, bumps, I guess so I have to limit that. As far as NIGHTIME activities..........it is getting hard to wait! Which I guess is a good thing because I have heard so many horror stories that your drive is gone but not mine, maybe cause i cant and that makes me want to that much more. You can still have fun.....just not intercourse...........its a start but so far it hasnt worked for me but 1 step at a time........

As someone speaking from experience, please be careful with the foreplay! Make sure your DH can stop!! I learned the hard way after my first c-sect. We were very young and it had only been 2 weeks. We figured a little bit wouldn't hurt, then it was I'm sure if I'm gentle I won't hurt you! Let me tell you, if he even looks at me funny right now I tell him "NO!" You will be thankful you waited the full 6 weeks and he will too because he won't feel guilty later for hurting you!
