I wanted to echo the other comments about one day great and the next day wiped out. I'm 5 weeks as of today. Yesterday I got up and walked like normal, came home and was really sore and achy. I hadn't had any motrin or any other pain meds in 36 hours - and finally decided it wasn't worth trying not to take anything.

I started having hot flashes the night I had my 2 week checkup and told my doc that I wasn't having any. They last a minute or so, I'm not soaking wet, but uncomfortable. They start around 5 pm and go on and off until around 7 am. I finally broke down and took an Ambien last night because I'd been waking up 3 + times during the night. I'll talk to my doc about HRT next week at my 6 week checkup. I've been trying to go the herbal route to fend of the hot flashes but so far it's not doing much (and I've been on the herbal for 4+ weeks)

Anyways, I'm glad that I did it and now it's just getting the hormones in sync.

Hugs to all of the other punctured princesses!

I was so excited for the freedom again! We have to take it slow I know, but I don't think this group can be kept down much longer!!! hahaha

There seems to be a fine line between doing things and doing too many things!!! Unfortunately, I think we all find out when we have done too much--but it is so nice to have a little freedom again. Have a great day!!

Am so thrilled. Went to see consultant today for post-op check and he has cleared me for driving and 'easing my way into normal activities'. All my pathology was normal but he wants to do another coloscopy in three months time and maybe again in a year as reason for operation was precancerous smears, in case anything isn't as it should be. I don't mind that I had it done as I am 54 and done with all those reproductive bits; better safe than sorry I think (which the three specialists said) but I guess I might have been p****d off if I were ten to fifteen years younger and thought I might want more children. Actually ten to fifteen years ago I didn't want any more children, but anyway.

I just feel lucky. Oh, some of the questions I might have asked him I didn't bother, because I already knew of other sisters' experience from these boards. How fab is that?

Okay, I have a question for all you ladies...
first, way to go Louise!!!

So it sounds like we are all in the same place.. two steps forward, one back.. do any of you play the constant mind games of the "I Wonder Game" with yourselves?

Today I'm lying on my bed not feeling like doing anything.. and although I know ALL of the Hystersisters say it will get better in time.. my mind is saying, "I wonder if I will be fatigued forever!! I wonder if I'll ever be back to normal.." I wonder, this, I wonder that! ACK!!!!!

I'm so out of it today.. don't want to do ANYTHING.. yet I wish I felt better to do something!!! (really I'm not a crazy woman, although I am sounding crazy).. I feel sick to my stomach today, have pain and want to sleep the day away.. I won't let myself sleep the day away because then I will be up all night dealing with insomnia!! So I wonder.. hahahha, stop, my stiches.. ouch..

I've been hearing all this talk about thinking postively.. ya know.. The Secret.. which isn't new I know... but everyone's saying if you think negatively you'll get negative.. CRAP, I'm feeling negative right now.. I don't want to think positive. I know intellectually that all will be well and I'll be right back on track in no time.. but emotionally, I'm say **** that positive stuff!!! And I'm such an avid believer in staying postive and upbeat..

I WONDER WHEN I WILL BE POSITIVE AGAIN!!!!!

Sorry sisters.. just venting.. I'm killing myself over here.. hahahah, ouch.. stop.. hahah.. ouch.. okay, okay, I'll stop!! Back to my bed.. ahhhh

Thinkin' to myself, I wonder if it's okay to play the wonder game with one's self AND VOICE IT ONLINE ..

Good evening from northern CA.
So many new posts, haven't even looked at the computer all weeks. Sounds as if all of our sisters are doing well and ready to be move on from convalescing.
To those of you experiencing hot flashes, look into soy products. I have someone very close to me who is swearing by her morning fruit and soy smoothies, hope this helps.
I'm looking forward to my 6-week visit next Wed. Hopefully will get the green light to resume "relations". I have to admit it's been sort of fun acting like teenagers, giving each other the eye and making out but my partner and I are going to pull out our hair soon!

Boy did I get knocked back a step; just recently I was diagnosed with a MRSA staph infection. It started off like a very tiny pimple and within 2 days I knew what it was having dealt with this in the past. My entire left side was flaming red, oh-so-painful and swollen creeping ever so close to the incision sites (have 4 incisions, laproscopic). It had to be lanced, drained and packed with cotton - EVERY DAY for about a week! The doctor performing this torture suggested that I take some ibuprofin (hahaha) before reporting to her office every morning. Thankfully, I still had quite a bit of the Norco left from after surgery; I let her know I would be taking both along with all of the very strong antibiotics to kill this very resistant strain of staph. Now all the extra landry - sheets, towels, everything I wear, has to be washed in hot water and separately from everybody's clothes. Nothing like a little extra work during recovery time! Anyway, I guess having an open, oozing, infectious wound is definitely NOT sexy and kept our minds from wandering there -hahaha.
They say which does not kill us makes us stronger. I should be one tough b**** after all is said and done; I haven't stopped since our evacuation from Katrina in New Orleans not that long ago.
Onward we march.
take care and good night all, C

Hi Group!

I just went to my post-op for 5 weeks and 2 days.. (whose counting right??) Doc said I'm healing well. Discharge is normal.. I have so much of the fatigue you all talk about.. I feel a burst of energy, go do something and wham, I'm exhausted or down the next day. Also, some of the pain I get when I overdue he said is from the nerves intertwining with the the stitches!! Interesting. He said, we don't cut the muscles! Doc said fatigue is do from many things.. and to just "listen to my body." Oh I'm listening alright. It's forcing me to listen!!! I asked if I could do some weight lifting at the gym.. (I was working out very much all the way up to surgery) He said only things that don't pull on the abdomen. He looked at me and then said, "I didn't operate on your arms, but be careful!" And I can walk and do the treadmill.

I still have this feeling of not being able to catch my breath.. He said that is most likely anxiety. He said the anesthesia does a lot of things to people.. he told me even Clinton suffered from depression after his surgery. We talk a lot about the hormones here on hystersisters so I thought it had to do with lack of or too much etc. forgetting all about the actual anesthesia that takes months upon months for the body to function normal again. Hope more people check in!!

Thanks for the update. I'm 4 weeks 3 days post-op and I too have the burst of energy and then the following day I'm dragging. It is nice to know that seems to be the norm. I don't go back to my dr until 6 weeks post-op so it is helpful to hear from the sisters. Take Care.
