Aww...Sticker Lady....kiss kiss hug hug.....I agree w/ you...I HAVE to get my daily dose of my sistas!!! I work a p/t job w/ all men...they didn't know how to TALK to me after the surgery. A few of their WIVES phoned and sent a fruit basket but, I agree, I love how women have the ability to heal w/ words. That's why some of us are mothers b/c God knew that, if nothing else, at least we can talk w/ some sense. LOL!! Have a bright and sunny weekend. The sun is out in CT!! the weather is warm!!!

Yo Miss
Thanks for all the love! The weather here in NH is finally good, too. We even have hopes that our basement will dry out! Enjoy the sunshine! Blessings to all the sisters.

Hi Ladies, just checking in! Unlike most of you I was NOT released for activity at my 6 week post op. I was really dissapointed but the surgeon did say I could walk. So I have walked 25 minutes around the YMCA track for the past 5 days straight. Yay me
It is absolutely thrilling to be allowed to exercise in any form after six weeks of nothing!!
I have four more weeks before I can do, ahem, other things....husband will be happy then
I am bound and determined to use this as a jumping off point for a healthier life! I am getting my "routine" set up so that I can continue with exercise regularly.

I have been avidly reading the posts on this thread, but haven't written. I had a "take out everything that's not nailed down" abdominal hysterectomy on February 22nd, and like Nightie, I've been incredibly lucky with my recovery. After leaving the hospital I never had to take pain medication, and my doctor wanted me to start walking my first day home. I obviously started slow, but I think it was what has helped me the most.

I went back to work (I'm a Montessori teacher) at three weeks though I had to crawl into bed and rest all afternoon the first two weeks back at work. I worked up to my normal 5 mile walking route by five weeks. I went to yoga last Saturday, but have decided not to go back for another month since it's the physical, kick butt yoga and I felt that it was too hard on my abdomen (I really felt it!!). I went to my belly dancing class last night for the first time and it felt wonderful. (?). And Monday evening I'll go to my aerobics class....but I'll try to keep it low impact.

I've decided not to take hormones (I'm 50), but I am worried about osteoporosis. I'll have to do some more reading on that.

One thing that I've kept up since my surgery, and I think it really helps, is resting in the afternoon. I lay down for about an hour after work.

One thing women with hysterectomies talk a lot about here in Costa Rica is adhesions....and I'm beginning to get paranoid about them. How do you know if you've overdone and caused them? Do you feel them or feel pain or what?

Anyway....I don't know what I would have done without this website to lead me down the "after" path. And thank you all so much for all the wonderful information.

Is anyone else having a lot of discharge? Mine has been mostly a light brown, but I have actually had a couple days that it's looked green.

I think it could depend on what you have left if you continue to have a discharge. I recall reading something about "mini periods" if you still have a cervix. However, green doesn't sound good and if it were me, I'd get it checked out. At least call your MD and see what he'she says.
Good luck!

If you have no bad odor, it sounds like you have a granuloma, as I had after TAH, everything removed and no cervix left behind. My discharge went from that brown/green color to a yellow tint. The doctor used long q-tips dipped in some cream it to carterize it away. Silver nitrate cream makes a greyish discharge for a few days. Better call the doc.

Yesterday marked the 9-week point post surgery and then following with two treatments for granuloma. The doctor said that I was released from his care and free to do "whatever", so last night we did whatever! All I can say is WOW. Didn't hurt at all, everything worked great. Really really great - something I was concerned about after losing the cervix, plus I wondered if things would feel different without the uterine contractions that are supposed to accompany orgasm. Who needs those parts?! is all I can say! I didn't have any discomfort and what had become the regular routine of feeling punched in the stomach afterwards was nonexistant. I asked my DH if he felt like there was no support in there, with all those parts gone and a bladder and intestines as the only organs floating around me. He confirms that everything felt as normal as before, that he couldn't tell a difference. Afterwards I got promises that we could do it twice a day every day from now on, and of course this morning passed by like any other regular busy morning. Still, it was a good idea!
