Ellen54 - Thanks so much for sharing. It's a big relief to know I'm not the only one who had a big cry and had DH "caught like a deer in the headlights". I did miss that feeling of the contractions, but like hothissyfit said, it's "different" not bad. And hopefully with all the other benefits that come with having the uterus gone, it will outweight what's missing and be even better before. I love all you for keeping me positive and helping us all have perspective.

hguffy - I'm sorry you can't lift your son! I didn't have an incision, but I if your dr. gave you lifting restrictions they are for a reason. It's been said here many times, you only have one chance to heal right. Take good care of yourself and you'll be able to life that little one in no time.

hguffey-
I had my LAVH the same day as you. Being that I didn't have the incision I have been up and about for a week or so. I would ask your Dr. if someone else picks your baby up can you just hold him sitting down. I would think it is the strain of lifting that we are trying to avoid. Sounds like you are having something going on with the tenderness in that spot. I would definitely get that looked at. The only suggestion I would have is the heat and you are already doing that. Sorry I am not much help. I do hope you feel better and can be loving on your Son soon. Take care

hguffey- It may help too to put a pillow on your lap and then if someone puts your baby on your lap on the pillow it may work for you. My MD has me on a 5 LB lifting restriction for 6 weeks. It's frustrating but I can feel pulling if I even lift a gallon of milk so I guess I'll be good and follow the rules still!

Today is day 21 for me and although I am starting to sleep better and have more energy during the day..today I was the most stir crazy I have been. I drove 2 short trips to the local store (2miles) and did lots of little light house stuff this am. It's almost like I couldn't give myself permission to put my feet up. Finally did midday and then did pace myself thru the pm. Also felt on the verge of tears -I think that's why I kept myself so busy. In hindsight I realize it was just an off day -a bit of that rollercoaster of energy/emotions.
Hopefully tomorrow I will be more gentle with myself!

Take care sisters!

Hi all My name is Chris. I had my surgery on the 28th. I was up & walking by that afternoon. I was never in pain after the surgery except for a bladder infection. I was so happy that the doctor finally agreed to do the surgery because after she got "in there" it turned out that I had a cronically infected uterus. No wonder I had been so sick for so long. Since the 28th--I have been taking it slowly, however I feel so blessed not to be in pain anymore. A few days after the surgery I woke up with NO pain for the first time in years. How wonderful. Blessing to all.

All of the information everyone shares has been a great help for me. The doctor (nurse) keeps saying everything is normal and I keep going well.... I am having problems with being "light headed" and have NO appetite. I have lost the weight I wanted to but..... I am in no pain though and never really was in any. I really am relieved that others are having a lot of the same "feelings" that I have or am experiencing.

thank you for the advise and words of encouragement. i saw the MD yesterday for my post op and the news was mixed. No cancer found!!! The large knot could be a hernia or more likely a large hematoma inside the rectus muscle. I got no new privledges...still no driving, lifting, etc for 2 more weeks. He is hoping this knot will go away with rest and heat. We will have faith and see him in 2 weeks. I don't know what the outcome will be if it doesn't go away. We will wait and see. I put a pillow in my lap last night and sat Rodney sat Sawyer on the pillow! I was so emotional....thank you for the idea...it helped not only me but my husband (he needed a break) and Sawyer (he needed his Mommy to hold him)
