Thanks so much Sisters. your words were so welcomed to my ears. I know we have to be patient, I realize this. Ijust never thought it would take me this long and i get down. I have noticed walking really makes me feel good, and I finally had DH pick me up a Women's Daily MultiVitamin the other day and I think taking it has made a difference. i am determined to try and drive this week if the weather is nice, so I will let you all know how I do.
thanks again for all you words and prayers and thoughts - they mean more than you could ever know.
Love Zella

Hi Bogey,

Could you tell me a little more about the anti-anxiety? My doctor gave me xanax to take for the next couple of weeks(?) due to acute anxiety which seemed to occur after my hysterectomy. I had a history of it in the past with my pms but not to this extent. I had a lavh on 2/27/07 for endometriosis. Luckily, kept both ovaries. The anxiety has been the worst part of the whole thing for me. Literally, what I thought was exhaustion from surgery was partly due to the anxiety. Now I am going back to my activities of my treadmill and 3 pd. hand weights. Hopefully, this will break the cycle of the anxiety! I see the name bogey? Golf? My whole family are golf addicts. Parents live on a golf course, etc.... Can't wait to get back to that part of life too!

lavh 2/27/07 kept both ovaries

I seem to have turned the corner....I managed to walk up to a post office with a parcel to post and back home with few side effects. On the whole it took me 40 mins walking and 10 minutes standing in the queue. I feel so good I have managed to do that.

I am drinking lots of water with fresh lime juice and fresh orange juice as well and I think it is helping to heal things nicely. I am starting to feel more hopeful but I recognise I still have a long way to go.

Hope you are all okay....thinking of you hystersisters.

'Take care.

What week of recovery are U in? It really does take a FULL 6 weeks. I felt the same way was you last week and had my set back, too. I cried too. Yesterday, I ventured to church. All I did was cry the first 20 minutes because all I could think about were these "normal" people around me, and why couldnt I just be like them? You see, I had no pain or anything before my TAH. So I have been doubting this whole time. I had 2 tumors wrapped aroung my ovaris the size of catalopes and I had endo that had spread everywhere. I have been plagued with the day to day, :
"WHY ME?" question.
After all of that, there is hope. I am in week 5 recovery and feeling/doing much better. Just 5 days ago I was depressed and wishing I could just fast forward time 6 months! Here's some advice: whatever task you decide to do, dont do anything for more than 2 hours at a time. (That includes compters.) Then, rest for 2 hours. That seemed to help me. I was able to get out a little, but not too much. My healing has been better since. I go back to work(elem. teacher) next week and am TERRIFIED! But, the Lord doesnt give us more then we can handle, so I guess I will be okay.

Hi March 17th,
Just came from the doctor and she says the tenderness and stinging does not concern her, there does not seem to be any infection...she did remind me that there are a lot of layers underneath the belly that have to heal so to be patient. She was a little concerned about the lump under my belly button...she says it could be just a hematoma which will typically go away on it's own or it could be a hernia but she is not sure but it is sore so she is sending me for an ultrasound to see what is going on. I go on Wednesday...so if you have any lumps, I would get them checked, otherwise, more rest may help with your stinging and burning. I have to say after 4 days of rest, today I actually do feel a little better as far as that goes. Weird, because yesterday I was still hurting a lot...maybe I am finally seeing some light. So, hang in there...will keep you updated on the ultrasound.

Hi all,
Finally got access to internet after 2 days being gone from home. So good to catch up with all of you.
Runplenty-thanks for your suggestion! (the pina colada)It made me laugh which was great. I am hanging in with this family vacation trip. The first day was long, with the drive, getting everyone settled once we got there. I was very sore-back, bottom.. on day 2 and really took it easy. It is the first time I have every been lying in the sun and silently crying behind my sunglasses. I still would rather be home. Sounds absurd I know but at home , each thing I was doing felt like a success whereas on this trip, I feel like I am failing at most things-not being how I would usually be on a trip. I gained a lot of comfort thinking of all of you. With my goal of not being a wet blanket, I did go with all to a movie last night-was sore from the sitting but did have some good laughs with us all together.

Nomorewaiting-It really is true that if we think back a couple weeks we are really all making great progress. I remember back to where going from the bed to a couch was the big activity. I think we all expect so much of ourselves-I think it's because we are all used to being super women in our daily lives.

Teacher30-You have been in my thoughts all weekend and especially today as it's your first day back at work.

Angelika-you're not alone-many of us are still having those tearful moments. Reassure your BF that if you wear your seat belt that you will be fine in the car. Take a pillow too for extra comfort. It'll probably feel good just to get a short ride in.

March17-Welcome- so glad you found this site. It has helped me so much. I am hoping we all stay connected even past these next few weeks because it sounds like its going to be several more months to fully recover and I know I will still need all of your friendship and support and great suggestions.

Take care sisters!

back to work!

Well, I made it through the day! Physically it was a lot easier than I expected. I'm gald I waited at least this long (5 wks) to return. Even just last week I don't think I would have made it. I was getting tired and achy by noon, but I took 2 advil with lunch and made it through the rest of the day. I'm super exhausted and hurting now, but I've got the heating pad on and bet I'll sleep well tonight. Mentally it was tough to concentrate through the whole day and get back into the groove of things. This is my first year teaching and I feel like I've done such a miserable job, and have been absent more than I've been there. The kids were happy to see me again though, so that made me feel good, but emotionally, I"m ready to pack it up and go be a beach bum for the rest of my life! Maybe my ovaries are still just getting back at me and the hormones are off, who knows. Anyway, thank you all so much for the prayers and thoughts. I know they were keeping me going today!

I hope everyone is taking good care out there. I'm going to bed!

Thanks for the welcome Ellen 54. Again, I will say how happy I am to have found all of you. You all share a special "bond," and I am so glad that all of you welcomed me in. I thought that I was losing it both mentally and physically. No one seemed to understand me. I have been having my emotional outburst as well -- I'm up, I'm down, I'm happy, I'm sad, I'm frustrated. The burning/stretching feeling below the belly button is driving me nuts. Today, I over did it again, and experienced like period cramping. But each and everyone of you made me realize that I am okay, and I will make it, and all things will work out. The healing just takes time. I wouldn't have been able to see the light if it weren't for all of you. I'm so grateful!!) This site is fantastic, and everyone seems to be so supportive of each other's feelings, circumstance, etc. The positive attitude and encouragement you give each other is unbelievible. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for each of you being you!!)

Hockeynuts65, please let me know about the ultrasound on Wednesday. I will be anxious to see how you make out.

All of you hystersisters will be continually in my thoughts. Bless you, and thanks again -- I wouldn't make it without you. Now that I found you, I will make it...................

March17-Glad this site is helping you too. It has been the best part of my recuperation.

Teacher30-So good to hear from you! You are like a pioneer for many of us. Forging the trail. You survived the journey today! That gives me the confidence to know I will make it through my first days back too.I will keep you in my thoughts each day this week as I'm sure many of your sisters will be doing.

I made it through day 3 of the family trip!
No emotional outbursts(although much of my DH activities are totally annoying me)(I get out my crocheting to distract me!), one dose of motrin(still getting uncomfortable late part of the day/eve), one delicious dessert and 2 new tops for when I go back to work next week. (I'm still on the prowl for those elastic waist pants for my rounded belly!)

Take care sisters!
