Viteacher, I am so sorry to hear of your recent experience...you really could have done without the fall. My love and hugs go out to you. I hope you feel better soon.

Ellen54, thanks so much for sharing your progress recovery report with me ....I have a great love for nature and my garden is my sanctuary. I managed to water the garden three days ago..I did not want my plants to whether away. I wish you the best of luck next week. My thoughts will be with you.

Runplenty, I, too, am a runner and I think that was what made things worse for me not being able to go out for a jog while I am recovering. You are doing really well with your walks...I know it really does help not just physically but mentally too. I have been on a 45 minute walk a day and now I am starting week 5 I plan to extend it to 1 hour a day eventually. Thanks for encouraging me.

I am feeling a better than I have done in week 4....my partner did all he could to cheer me up yesterday bless him. I am also taking my painkillers when I need to whereas I have been putting up with the pains without med. I have been so worried about the fact that if I took meds I wouldn't know when I have been overdoing it. Yes, perhaps I am too careful.

Well my sister friends, what can I say. You have all helped me so much with your experiences. Love and hugs to you all. Have a lovely day.

Take care.

Angelika

Good morning all,
Angelika-I realized this morning that my previous post I actually was describing how my 6th week of recuperation went. So much for my clear brain. Week 5 was still do a little, rest a little type of a week.

Well today my plan is to go into my office for a couple hours-I woke up in a sweat, totally stressed. Transitions(Monday mornings after a great weekend, Monday after a vacation, and now Monday after 6 weeks off) are tough for me but I always survive with lots of deep breaths and just putting one foot in front of the other and moving forward. After a day or so, I get back in the swing of things and usually by midweek it doesn't feel like I've been away at all. I'm hoping that this transition goes that way too.

hothyssiefit-I have gotten very attached to old reruns of Matlock and the daily Price is Right show- they worked great for my level of brain function after surgery. I will have to use DH's precious Tivo system to record them this week. I don't want to go into shock from sudden withdrawal ! I wish you the best as you return to work.

Take care sisters!

hothyssiefit, thanks for your thoughts. Believe me it scared me too. My lower jaw is very sore and one of teeth that the fillings went flying out of is just a little sensitive. It is also begining to turn a lovely color!
Yes, I will miss the trash and the soaps but the soaps are on soapnet on the weekends so if I decide to watch I can.
There are alot of teachers on this site. Come to think of it I think a teacher I work with told me about this site. As lovely as I look I am going to go to the mall today and buy a new something! Can't be long as I still get a little sore plus have to beat the SLEET! This is unreal. I love it though. I hate hot weather. Sorry to ramble so I will go. Next week is full of DR appointments. Dentist, my doctor to check my chin, the urologist and the OB. Thank goodness I still have not been released so I can get all of this in! I think she will probably release me on Tues.

Good for you viteacher, when life gets tough-go shopping! I can just see you now...the teeth, the swelly-belly, the lack of bending over! Ah heck girl...buy a pair of shoes too-you deserve it!

I was just thinking about my TV line-up. I even added the tvguide online to my computer favorites. My highlight was Dr.Phil and divorce court. I bought 5 books to read while in bed, well that never happened.

Ahhh yes.... teachers. We just know where to find other good people. Our calling requires us to seek information in abundance. We can't let a 5th grader become smarter than us! Oh yeah...that was another show I watched.

The last two days were tough for me! I had the most cramping, insomnia and fatigue since my first week. I may have overdone it, but I was fine before. I felt like I was to begin my period again. I even carried a "light days" just in case the Dr. left something in. I can't feel this way once I return to work on Monday. I guess I will be drinking "Monsters" if so. My students are always packing an extra

Have a great holiday tomorrow girls!

Hello ladies! I haven't posted lately, but I certainly enjoyed reading each and every post that you have made. I only found this site the most about a week ago and am soooooo glad that I did. I wish that I found it sooner, but at least I am here now. All of you are so encouraging, and the bond that you share is awesome!

Viteacher, I certainly feel for you. Please take care of yourself and indeed pamper yourself like a princess while shopping. I give you a lot of credit for not caving into your emotions........You are keeping your chin (although bruised) up high, and seeking all positives -- even shopping. Bless you! I wish you the best of luck with all of your doctor appts. and dental. Keep us posted!!)

Angelika, I just started week 5 yesterday. You are exactly one week behind me. It is normal for your emotions to be crazy and to still be in pain, sore, etc. Be kind to yourself. Have patients. It does take time to recover. Last week, I did do a little more; however, I did cave in and take a pain pill here and there in between the motrin. It does help, but it also gives you much more confidence that you are capable of more than you actually are. So, please, try to not push yourself too much -- take it slow, each day you are closer to recovering completely. For example, yesterday, I felt pretty good. The stretching/buring sensation under the belly button felt a little better and the cramping. I cleaned the house more than I have since the surgery, did about 5 louds of laundry, made a decent dinner, did some ironing, stayed up all day -- no nap, but today, I woke up feeling so exhaused, my stomach still looks swollen more than yesterday, I'm a little stuffy, and I have some cramping where my ovaries use to be and in my lower back. So what I am saying is that you will feel better, but you must TAKE IT SLOW! I am my own worst enemy, and I am sure that a lot of you are.

All of our teachers and Ellen 54, congratulations on a successful week. Your determination to return to work: those that have or those that are about to, God bless you. You too, please take it slow!!)

We do celebrate Easter in our home so I have to get ready for that. I am only decorating a little bit this year and tried to cut back on the menu. For those of you celebrating "Happy Easter" and may the Lord bless you and keep you on a continued successful recovery.

To all of you sisters out there, I apologize for not mentioning each and every name, but please forgive me. I read the posts severals times, indeed thoroughly enjoyed them, but my brain isn't at full capacity yet. I just can't remember each and every detail, but it doesn't mean that I don't care -- I do! Again, thanks for the support, experiences you are feeling, your progress, etc. from each and every one of you. It is much needed and appreciated!!) From the bottom of my heart -- THANKS! Love and hugs to each and every one of you.................... Enjoy your day!!)

Hi everyone,

viteacher-hope you had a great time at the mall and treated yourself to something special. You deserve it. Good luck with your MD appts next week. I did that too on my 5th week-took care of gyn, uro, eyes etc. Should be set for awhile. It was great to not have to try to juggle appts with work schedule.

Runplenty- My DH always wonders why I am laughing out loud while I'm at the computer. Thanks for bringing us all a lot of joy!

Well, today was my experiment back to the office to get a head start on mail, emails, reorient my brain to the drive, the environment etc. It went very well-of course I didn't get up at 5am like usual-just rambled in about 11am. (the 5am alarm on Monday is going to be painful!)Saw a couple people on my team who work weekends and that was nice. I had over 600 emails to browse Yikes Glad I took the time to look at them -one was approval for my summer vacation-glad I didn't delete that one. It took me a lot longer than I thought-had to get some other stuff ready for Monday-was there about 4 hours.( Forgot to take a drink or snack or motrin)-By that time my back was killing me, my crotch felt like it weighed about 20 lbs and was 120 degrees and if I had to have stayed another 5 minutes I would have been in tears. (do you think I would look weird on Monday with a heating pad on my back, and a frozen washcloth pack to sit on about mid afternoon? Ha Ha! )Came home, ate, took motrin. I am very glad I did this trial run(which actually was like starting with a part time day. I got my brain oriented to what meetings I have this next week too. I can't imagine if I had faced all of that Monday. It'll still be tough but at least I got some behind me. I'm taking in some goodies for everyone on Monday. They all were so supportive with food, cards, emails, flowers. I initially thought"I should bake something"...then I thought, "Haven't I learned anything from my hystersisters??" (I bought ready made stuff at the grocery store today!!) For those heading back on Monday-be extra nurturing to yourself on Sunday. I know many of us will all have to remind ourselves not to overdo on Easter.

Well, it's motrin and ice pack time again.
Take care sisters!!

Thank you for supporting my shopping trip. You know, I think it was either the surgery or it could have been the JAR to the head but I bought stuff that is just so NOT me. Something came over me today and I went on the "wild side" for me. I kept thinking I am too old for this but then a "wave" came over me and decided to go for it. However, the wildest I went was a loose knit cotton sweater that was purchased at Coldwater Creek!!! Can't be tooo wild but I guess it was the color! I have had some pain in the below the belly button area today and of course my jaw hurts. I have to laugh with my mouth closed or my lower teeth feel like they are going to drop out! I guess I look kind of silly holding my stomach and keeping my mouth closed when I am laughing! I can't eat anthing solid as I cannot chew or my jaw locks, plus if I manage to eat something the food gets caught in my gapping holes in my teeth that have holes in them. Oh well, this has been some 6 weeks. The surgery has been the easy part! it is all the things that have come up later. Veritgo and fighting with my driveway! Okay, once again have a nice Easter. Monday I am going to find a dentist to fill in my caverns and then it is off to medical things on Tuesday. I don't think I want to go back to work on Wednesday!

Hi MArch 17th and all,
I have not received the results from the Ultrasound but I should find out tomorrow so I continue to take it easy until I know what is going on but the last few days I have been very sore, feeling like I have gone so far backwards ...all I do is lie in the recliner when I get home from work with that Swelly Belly band. I am hoping for relief soon. It may be because the doctor was poking around and with the ultrasound they have to press down. Just really frustrating but am trying to hang in there. SO, besides the lump under my belly button, the dr. says I am healing normally...at first she suggested I can even start light excercise but then she changed her mind on that until we get the results back. But, I just don't feel comfortable doing any excercise yet until I know things are healing the way they are supposed to. But how do you ever know? Anyone have any insight on this....has anyone started excercising in week 5 or 6? Also has anyone noticed the swelling is worse in week 5? Will update this with my results. Meanwhile, I welcome all of the posts...they really do help me know I am not alone...

Hi all,
viteacher- I hope you will be able to take this week off to recover. I will keep you in my thoughts. Good luck with the dentist and MD appts. Take super good care of yourself. The new top sound great! We are starting a new stage in our lives so new styles sound like just the thing to do for ourselves!

hockeynut-So sorry to hear you are having some rough times. I think the best exercise during our recovery still is walking. I tried a couple of my yoga stretches and got some sharp pulling discomfort so I am going to hold off on those til around week 8 or so. I don't want to rush or pull anything. I still get uncomfortable if I sit on anything hard for any period of time so I am also holding off on my exercise bike for awhile. I am finishing week 6 tomorrow but still find my belly is larger in the pm than the am. I go back to work tomorrow and had gotten one pair of pants in a larger size but yesterday went a got a second pair. No point in stressing myself out with unrealistic expectations of being back in shape in a few more weeks. I don't want to "diet" or cut calories right now while my body is still recovering. I am going to give myself a couple weeks to get back in the swing at work and then get back on my weight watchers type routine.
I hope tomorrow is a better day for you. Remember recuperation is a bit of a roller coaster ride-some days better and some days feel like a step back but the better days will come again. I will be thinking of you this week!
