Good afternoon sisters. I have full clearance from the Doc! Yea!!!!! I made a bee-line from her office to the gym for a 20 minute workout. She did tell me to hold off on estrogen for six more weeks and gave me a scrip for zoloft (sp?). We're meeting again in 8 weeks to see how I am adjusting. My prayers for you all!

Good for you!! I had my lavh the same day as you. My doctor cleared me two weeks ago today for normal activities (in moderation). Today I am cleared for "everything"! Yeah!! It is a good feeling. Are you doing the zoloft because of your hormones? They were discussing this with me because my ovaries are still trying to jumpstart again. I had to deal with pms last week for the first time since surgery. Oh boy!

Good luck with the rest of the recovery process!

lavh 2/27/07 kept both ovaries

Hello Sisters - just checking in. Today was a great day for me! I drove for the 1st time since my surg. It felt great - freedom has returned! I will admit I am tired and very sore, kinda like a pulling and tugging. I was thinking while I was taking my first drive - what I have been feeling lately does not at all compare to the pain prior to surgery or the pain from all the tests I had to endure. I can cope with the pulling and tugging and I know - I need to rest, which I plan on doing.
But, it felt good to get out there today, did not take a long ride, just down the road and around the bend to a Dunkin Donuts for a Latte, best tasting Latte in almost 6 weeks!
Hope all are doing well and still resting - Love Zella

Hello ladies, I hope your return to work went well!

I was able to finish a full day at work today. My belly is the most swollen since the third day of recovery. I haven't gained any of the weight back (9 lbs) but I am huge. Is anyone else having this problem?

I was a basket case at Vons this afternoon as well. I left food in the grocery basket and placed my purse on the conveyor belt. THEN, I was given $40 back...well I signed a twenty and gave it back to the clerk. I usually pick up a People magazine during checking out. I grabbed a knitting magazine and paid for it! I don't even know the first thing about yarn. The clerk asked me if I was alright. My eyes started watering Luckily my neighbor was in the store at the same time. She came over and grabbed my cart and explained that I just had a major surgery and probably wasn't feeling well. Gawd, those people must think I am a freak!!!

Let's all just stay in bed for a few more weeks and e-mail hugs all day....pleeeeaaase...

ok ya'll, this swelly belly is getting pretty rediculuous (sp)!!!! I was in a rush this morning so I put on some of my "old" pants...they were stretchy material so I figured they would be fine as the day went on....well no, they didn't stretch enough, and the swelling was so bad by mid-morning that my zipper kept on popping down! So all day I was trying to discretely zip it back up without my students seeing. I got on the scale and it said I have gained 7 lbs just since I went back to work last week. Nooooooo! Ok, now someone please tell me it is just the swelling and fluid retention, because I promise, I didn't steal too much of the kid's Easter candy!

Despite the swelly belly though, this week as started better for me. I feel more like my old self and more back in the groove at school. I made it to 5:00pm without having to take any motrin even though I had to spend most of the day walking and on my feet, so that is good.

hothyssiefit - I'm glad that you were released for everything! Tell us how the zoloft works...I've been thinking of going into my GP and asking for something before my head spins off. I"ll be thinking of you tomorrow. Please let us know how it goes!

Ellen54 - I hope your day went ok! I've been thinking about you.

runplenty - yes, as you just read, I'm having the same problem...my belly is huge and has continued to get worse as I have been back a work. May I suggest you don't wear pants with zippers like I did, or at least bring a safty pin with you!!! Please continue to take it easy on yourself. Just because we are back at work doesn't mean we are totally back to our old selves yet. We still need lots of rest and TLC all the way around - mentally, physically and emotionally. I still have to just come home and crash, my mind can't function anymore after about 6:00 (except of course to spend time here!) I'd be there with you to stay in bed if I could! We're almost to summer though - I taped up a picture of the beach and put the number of school days left. That got me through today! I'll be thinking of you tomorrow and sending lots of positive thoughts your way.

Zellabella - I'm so gald you were able to get out. Keep on taking good care of yourself.

to all!

I am having a bit of a setback this week. Much more sore and tired, but that may be because I am back at work full time and have starting more housework. Also having the swelly belly problem--I tried wearing my "fat' jeans this weekend and only lasted an hour or so before I was back to my comfy sweatpants. I only have three pairs of loose-waist pants dressy enough to wear to work, so I hope the belly shrinks soon!

I hope tomorrow is better for you. I have gained a bunch of weight also and I have been pretty active. I am very limited in what clothes I can wear. It makes me want to cry. I am a little over 5 weeks post-op and I don't think that I am swollen 8-10 lbs worth. It is really frustrating but all I can do is keep trying to watch my diet and walk. Good Luck-

Congratulations to all of you who are doing well.
I did the Dental stuff today, at least part of it. I have to go to an oral surgeon on Wednesday to find out if my other 2 dentists can continue with their work! I go to my surgeons tomorrow to find out about the clearance from the TVH and bladder repair surgeon. I, hate to say anything to some, but I have lost 14lbs in the last 3 weeks and 3 of those over the weekend. I CANNOT chew anthing this week and the 3rd week of post op I had veritgo so bad that food made me sick. I wanted to lose weight but not in this manner. However, the good ole belly is there and the doctor the last time I saw her wanted to know if I had any gas. NOT! What causes the lovely belly?

Hi everyone,
Well one day down , 4 to go to the weekend. I have to say that today went so much better than I had worried about. I went to bed at a decent time last night, slept intermittently but just used my relaxation techniques so that I was pretty rested this am when I had to get up. Had a few palpitations and a "mini sweat" when the alarm went off but hit the hot shower which distracted me. Going in for a few hours on Saturday really helped just get reoriented to the drive and work environment. The wonderful part of today was all the hugs and "welcome backs" from so many people. Some I didn't even think would have noticed I was gone. I had a lighter case load today which allowed me to go at my own pace. That was good because due to fuzzy brain, there were times I wandered back and forth because I
forgot what I was doing and who I was going to talk to. Luckily noone noticed (or maybe I'm like this all the time and it looked normal to them!) Everyone, including my boss was very kind and encouraged me to take it easy and not overdo. I was very tired and sore by lunch time and did take some motrin. One thing I will do differently tomorrow is take my lunch. The cafeteria isway on the other side of the building and I tried not to do any unnessesary (sp?) walking so I ended up eating the pastries, cheese , OJ that I had taken in for my coworkers-so much for my nutritious food goal! I did end up working an 11 hour day because my pace was slow. I did pick up my dinner to go from the cafeteria as I past it on my way to the parking garage. I decided that way I would have good food to eat when I got home. DH gets home by 4:30 and he's a better cook than me so I knew he could take care of himself. It was great to get home and just eat. I am not doing anything else tonight after this, just the bath, bed and some mindless TV shows. My new larger slacks worked very well. They were "spacious"this am and fit well this afternoon. Glad I got two pair. I try not to think what size they are!
I know what helped today was all the support, kind words and tips from all of you. I really just kept telling myself just take it one hour at a time and that worked. As the morning went on I got so busy that I found myself enjoying my work again. I feel lucky to enjoy the people I work with so much. Thank you all so very much for your encouragement. I will be thinking of all of you as you return too.
Angelika-thanks so much for reminding us to keep the focus on not jepordizing our health as we move towards resuming our normal activities.
Regarding the thrush/yeast- hope it gets better soon!!

Hothyssiefit- Just remember DH loves you as you not for how wonderful an entertainer you are. The people that didn't show are the one's who missed out on spending time with wonderful you!! I am a major people pleaser and have worn myself out getting ready for people coming over-especially their first visit. I'm sure DH appreciated your efforts on behalf of his family. Good luck with returning to work. You will appreciated having the food ready when you get home!

bogey-great to hear from you! I really appreciate your feedback because I know that our recuperation doesn't end at the 6 week point. I'm sure we will continue to notice things. It's very reassuring to get your input.

Zellabella-isn't it wonderful to drive again. My first trip was to McDonalds for my favorite Coca-cola (I hate it from cans and stop there going to and from work daily)The first weeks after surgery when I couldn't drive, I had to drink cans, bottles and hope that my famiy would take pity on me and go to the drive thru (they hate doing it but did it a few times.) It does feel great to get some of the independence back again and get to the places we want to go! Enjoy those lattes!

Runplenty-Oh my gosh! There is something about the fluorescent lighting in the stores that short wires our already fuzzy brains. By the time I get to the checkout, I am almost in a hypnotic state. I am glad the universe sent a friend there to come to your rescue. I'm sure someone you know who knits has a birthday coming up-grab some yarn and tie a ribbon around the magazine and yarn and they will be so impressed at your insight into their interests. Pamper yourself tonight!!

Take care sisters! We're all in this together!

Ellen54 - I'm so glad you made it through your first day back. Enjoy a well deserved rest tonight. Like you said, 4 more days to go!

adledger - I'll cry with you But like you said, all we can do is keep eating well and staying as active as we can. Hopefully we will get back to normal soon. It is good to hear from you. I hope you are doing well!

viteacher- good luck with all your appointments this week. I hope they all go well and all the dr. are super-nice to you

Please wish me luck tomorrow. I have to be observed by my mentor from the teaching certification program I am in. She had to postpone because of my surgery. I've missed more school days than allowed, but they are still going to certify me after I complete the last two observations. I feel so blessed they are so willing to work with me, but it is nervewracking to have people watching you so much

Good night all!
