To all my Sisters--I've been taking Zoloft now for a few years to help with the mood swings (I've been premenapausal for 10 yrs) & I can honestly say that it does work. It takes a while to gt into your system but I have definately noticed a difference in my moods. Also, more clear minded. It also helped with the PMS thing too.

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday with your families. Blessings to all!

I'm sure our swelly bellies are all water weight. I did tons of research once I came home and relaxed. We may have up to 150 stitches that are dissolving week 5/6. Depending on our activity level, we will gain 3-5 lbs while the tissues mend on their own. Kinda like a sprain ankle protecting itself. I didn't gain any weight, just size. I admit I walked close to 16 miles last week, so I should have lost another 2lbs but instead earned the butterball. I promise to do nothing but rest once I come home, drink green tea and sleep during my lunch and prep.

Teacher30, my first years I made a deal with my students during my observation. No matter what they raised their hands to answer my questions. If they knew the answer - they raised their right hand, left hand if they didn't. They were in HS and wanted to stick it to the man! I can't remember what grade you taught, but thought I would share that with you.

Ellen, it sounds like you had a wonderful first day. Glad to hear that and I hope this is the case for the remainder of the week.

viteacher, if they haven't begun the crowns/bridge...ask for the "grill" They will give you both gold and silver teeth in the front. They are sooo VERY in style at the moment- just watch MTV!

Zellabella- first time behind the wheel was like being 16 again. I drove at a rate of 20 mph, but the freedom was awesome.

hothyssiefit- careful with the gym young lady... take a few days off at the first sign of the swelly increase. I didn't and I am really paying for it.

It sounds like we are on the same wave at the moment and we can do it!

Hothyssiefit and Nomorewaiting...That is great news. I am so happy you have been given the clearance from your doctors. That gives me hope although I still have another three weeks to my 8th week check up! Here they don't see you until the 8th week but never mind. Here's to your freedom.

Zellabella, that must have been a great feeling going for your first drive...I can really understand the feeling of being free again.

Runplenty, congratulations on your first day at work! Really sorry to hear about your shopping trip. I am sending you lots of warmth and hugs....please don't worry we are all in the same boat at the moment.

Redhead56 and Adleger, I really can sympathize with you both...when I went out for the day on Sunday I went to put a pair of jeans on and although they were comfortable I couldn't stand the pressure round my tummy and soon enough I went straight upstairs to put a loose dress on and oh did that feel so better!

Teacher30, I am so pleased you got through the day..the belly seems to be the problem for all of us at the moment. I can imagine how it must feel to be getting back to normality again.

Viteacher, I am totally amazed by your cheerful message today. I admire your positive spirit after everything you have gone through lately. I hope you get your jaw sorted soon. Let us know how you get on. Sorry you have lost so much weight....hang in there. My thoughts and love go to you.

Ellen54, you did so well on your first day...well done and for such a long day too. So pleased you had lots of support from everyone and that does help. I can imagine how you felt with your brain still feeling fuzzy....its a good thing we are able to laugh and smile about it. My thoughts and hugs to you for another day's work. Hang in there.

Teacher30...I wish you all the luck in the world for tomorrow...I am sure you will do well. Be thinking of you. Let us know how you got on. I know I dislike that too...being observed!

Well, I am starting to feel the pressure...I started doing up houses and either sell them or let them just before the op and all the time I am recovering we are paying for two mortgages! The op was not expected to happen so I am doing my best get back into it as soon as possible hence these long walks.

Well sisters, take care and keep smiling.

Angelika

So good to hear from everyone!
Teacher30-I will keep you in my thoughts today cheering you on with your evaluation at work.

I am finding that the focusing on one hour at a time is very helpful in the morning especially when the alarm goes off. If I think of the whole day I get overwhelmed but when I think about the next hour it's like"I can do that!". Today I start orienting 2 new employees, so we'll see how the fuzzy brain does. Hopefully I can fake it if I forget what I am doing! Wish everyone the best for today. Will touch base later. My MD said too that the belly thing is also due to our intestines all getting settled into their new space etc. Probably as the day goes on and we're on our feet, everything just goes the way of gravity too. So mixed with swelling, gas and gravity....hello swelly belly!!!!

Take care!

I have really enjoyed reading everyones post...it is so good to read about everyones recovery. I too am dealing with the belly, fatigue and emotions. I am scheduled for my 6 wk on the 13th. My dh b-day. I am hopeful all will go well. I am still having the pulling and intermittant pain, motrin and/or bufferin has helped. I'm a little leery of returning to work yet...nursing, (turning and lifting pts). My 12yr old had flu on easter....so, I had a little of early "nursing" work...and it wiped me out. So, any nurses out there to share return to work info...(thinking of waiting until 7-8 wks. Thanks TAH/ADENOMYOSIS

Such great posts Sisters. I am so glad you are all continuing to post here, it is so good to hear others progress and discoveries, and alternataives and ideas to what we are experiencing.
It sounds like we are all making a little progress, which is great! And, it also sounds like we are all experienceing the swelly belly syndrome - yuk! Me too and it seems to be getting worse.
Sometimes I have to hold up my own belly cause it droops over my incisions - scar - yes, I think at this point it is a scar! yeah!
But the swelly belly is the pits and YES I gained weight. How did that happen??? (lol) I had lost weight right after surg. but I guess when you sit around and watch TV and rest and pamper - the result is weight gain - yuk again!
I too can not get into any front/side/back zipper pants either, but, I did find a solution to the grannie outfits, I went to a health store - the kind you can buy hospital scrubs at... They have drawsting pants and elastic waist pants and longer shirts at very reasonable prices, and I figured when I am no longer swelly belly, they will be comfy to hang out in or garden in.
Back at the office about 4 hours a day now, keep going down stairs to work, back up stairs to rest and back down stairs to work.
Now, if I can only conquer the non sleeping at night - I would be almost perfect!
Love Zella

I am enjoying all of the posts as well. I'm just about 5 1/2 weeks post op. But, I know that I am not alone having all of you sharing each of your experiences with everyone. It is certainly so supportive and encouraging. Congratulations to all of you who have went back to work. It seems as though you are surviving what most of us couldn't at this time. Please give yourselves much credit which is deserved. Those of you who are having some setbacks, keep remembering, that in time you will heal, and as many of you have said listen to your body. Remember to relax when you can -- don't push yourself too hard. I have the swollen belly like many of you and some cramping, and my emotions and sleeping are affected still. But because of you, I know that this is normal. Thanks, again, all of you are awesome. I am so glad that I found you. Thank you for helping me with my recovery whether you know it or not. Bless you all!! Much love & hugs to each of you!!)

Hockeynuts, did you get your ultrasound results? I have been thinking about you and praying. Please give an update. XO

teacher30 how did your mentor/evaluation go? I am sure it went fine.
Well, today was the big 6 week check up. Hi **, hi ** it's off to work I go.The ObGyn cleared me to go to work starting tomorrow. The urologist cleared me to go to work tomorrow also, but, I have to go into surgery again next Wednesday to repair the mesh they used to support the bladder. There was some fancy name for it but...... It is supposed to be only day surgery but I will still have to probably miss work a couple of days. My director does not know this yet but....I also have not told her that I have to leave early tomorrow as I have to go see the oral surgeon tomorrow to see if my jaw is okay to have the repairs that need to be done on my teeth. My insurance is having a Hey Day!!
I am looking forward to seeing my students but not looking forward to all of the other stuff. I am lucky as I only see one student at a time and I get them when they are 3 and see them until they graduate. I have a kiddo this year that I have had for 15 years. She is graduating in June. Hope tomorrow goes okay, I already know I will be tired, I am definitely not used to getting up early. I am going to wear one of my new pairs of pants and new tops that I treated myself last Saturday at my Pity Party.
