I was a bit worried too, then I read the new review of that big research study and they correlated the hormone data to age and lenght of use of the hormones - seems if we use them for a few years around the onset of menopause (in our case, surgical) the heart risks were pretty much nil - so I am much more comfortable and will be happy even if I have to increase the dose a bit

Hi everyone!! I can never find this thread anymore. You are my sistas as we all had our surgery within that same week. We must be doing okay b/c no one has posted recently. I gave the wrong dosage of premarin by the way. It's .3mg per day. I tried to take it last night before I went to sleep at 10:30ish as opposed to taking it in the morning as I had been doing. But by 12:30 I was having a hot flash - it was strong but not as intense as before the premarin. But last night I was interrupted by at least 3 more flashes. I hope this premarin kicks in better; it's really been 4 days I'm taking it. But dh and I have been spending some more time in the playground and I feel free; we both do. Otherwise I'm okay and I hope to hear the same for everyone else. Thanks ladies! I love this thread.

Hi hope everyone is well. My night sweats are improving slowly but improving with .625 of premarin. I also read a lot of studies about all the problems with HRT but seems most of the problems are with combinations not with estrogen only. I'm going to go with the premarin as it helps with my mood also.
I had a blood test on 4/13 to see how my hemoglobin is doing, I'm not anemic anymore!!!

Hi all.
I have visited this site from shortly before my surgery, but never posted. I had my LATVH on 2/14. I made the decision to have the surgery primarily because of quality of life - I'd had periods that would last at least a week, and be extremely heavy most of it. I'd tried all sorts of other options, and at 38, already having my tubes tied, I figured that it was best, and not to bother with exploratory surgery first, and let the dr cover that with LA part of it.

Even though I'd had various tests and ultrasounds and nothing showed up (except the already known fact that my uterus was tilted far back), it turned out that I had a large fibroid, and adenomyosis, and old endometriosis fusing my ovaries to my uterus.

Recovery has gone pretty well. I did cheat a couple of times with a quick car ride to the store down the road early on, but then was able to not ride for 2 weeks, then wait until 3 weeks to drive. I walked a lot, but did watch a lot of tv/movies, etc. I was able to take off the whole 6 weeks from work.

The 4 week appt went well - dr said that I was textbook recovery. He re-emphasized the "NO SEX FOR 6 WEEKS!!" warning, which I heeded very well - we didn't until 7 actually. He told me no core exercising for a couple more months after that. No step aerobics. He said hand low hand weights with higher reps, treadmill, stuff like that was fine.

I had a scare at our second time with sex, thought I'd done something bad because I was really, really sore the next day. I made it through the weekend and ended up calling the dr's office because I was worried. The dr almost laughed at me, asked in what way I'd thought I'd hurt myself, and I said that well - I was kinda drunk and it lasted a long time, felt fine at the time, but boy did it hurt the next morning.

He examined me, said that everything was going great, and keep up what I'm doing.

Overall I'm doing well. The laproscopic incisions still are a bit sore, guess they're healing underneath. I've been trying to get back into regularly going to the gym - before this and another unrelated surgery a month prior, I was at the gym generally 5 days a week taking various aerobic classes and using weights.

But my clothes have been tighter than I'd like them to be! So I gave away my hoard of Pepperidge Farm cookies, I've been trying to only eat sugar free snacks that I prepare myself, and I'm trying to get back into the swing of things.

12abcde I'm glad your doing so well and that you were able to post your progress. I'm alway interested in how my sisters are doing. I had my surgery the day before you did and have been told no sex for 3 months. I had some complications and am healing slower than usual. So keep up the great work and I'm sure you'll be back in shape sooner than you think.

Hi sistas - Hope the weather is fine where you are. Here in CT the sun ACTUALLY came OUT. HOORAY. Hey Abcdef girl, hope you're doing fine. Hawaii baby girl, I think of you and hope the healing speeds up for you for pete's sakes. Like you haven't been thru enough....
Lovedogsandgolf - I wish I could play golf; i'm worse than poor. But my dogs (have two white shephards one m/ one f.0 The male, Bailey, bit the neighbor's baby dog (6 mo. black lab.) bit part of her tongue off. Boo hoo!!! I cried that whole night. My dog was quarantine - but he was in his fenced in area and the cops saw that we were all above board and he's not a renegade. How can I get this animal to be less spastic around other animals??? (We're paying their vet bill; their baby dog is okay - has a more difficult time drinking water now.) Oh I/m sorry this should be on the dog whsiperer thread i guess. my bad. thanks girls, have a splendid weekend. Hugs

Yomiss..It's Ok. Your dog's are your babies! The sun is finally shining here in Ohio too. It is supposed to be a pretty weekend! Sorry you've had such a struggle with hot flashes. I am using the Estraderm patch and so far my night sweats have disappeared.
Hawaii...Hang in there. I hope the rest of your 3 months of recovery will be much more smooth.
12abcde...glad to meet you. sounds like you are doing great! I had a little spotting the 2nd time my DH and I had sex. Scared the crap out of me too! BTW...my weakness lately has been candy and ice cream, but those Pepperidge Farms cookies sound good!
I started back to work this week. We have been very busy. I am tired, sore all over, and more bloated! My belly is more sore on the right side...same side I had most of my pain n before the hysterectomy. I guess, other than that I am OK. My 9 week "anniversary" and my 41st birthday were yesterday. My good friend surprised me at work with a balloon bouquet and cupcakes. It was a welcome treat because a cupcake was all that I had time to eat at lunch! My DH was out of town this week so my kids & I went out to Olive Garden for dinner last night. (The chicken crustata is awsome!!) Next Thursday, I will be celebrating 2 anniversaries - 21 years of marriage and 10 weeks pos op.

Scatterbeary...Thanks for the encouragement. I love my dogs but I am not a very good "Dog Whisperer", whom, btw, wrote that book that never tells you HOW to do what he does. No wonder he makes more than a million and I'm struggling to pay the electric bill. LOL..
HAPPY BDAY and HAPPY ANNIVERSARY and HAPPY 10 wks.!! I'm 10 wks w/ya gf. Still some numbness, the scar is dark maroon but so far so good. Now this next part is personal and I'm embarrassed but who can I ask except my hystersisters????
I've noticed that I have this protrusion from the vagina; now I had a 9lb baby 18 yrs. ago; am I just stretched out??? Since the TAH BSO dh said it actually feels tighter now (!!!) but does anyone notice this?? Sorry to be so personal but if I asked DH he would just make a wisecrack like "Oh let me take a look!" LOL

Yomiss, guess what? your not alone I also have a protrusion that I've been unsure of, especially because I went in with a prolapsed uterus to begin with I honestly thought I overdid it and my bladder dropped, but I feel O.K. except for the numbness and I'm sore at the end of the day. I had my surgery the same day and I'm slowly getting more energy. I even felt some stitches come out with my protrusion so maybe its part of the healing. I see my dr July 3rd so hopefully by then it will be gone. Remember I'm the one with no sex for 3 months after my post-op appointment.
