question about uterus size at time of hysterectomy

Has anyone had a hysterectomy and the uterus shrunk since their last ultrasound? My uterus is measuring like a 4 month pregnancy but is there a chance it can be smaller when they actually take it out?

Can a uterus shrink with adenomyosis or just keep getting larger?

question about uterus size at time of hysterectomy

At the time of my ultrasound the doctor said that my uterus was enlarge. But when he removed it he said it was normal. Maybe the ultrasound read it wrong????

question about uterus size at time of hysterectomy

They never really "know" what they have until they actually go in to have the surgery. The measurements are approximate.

At the time of my pre-op ultrasound, I was told that they could see two fibroids, which seemed strange to me, because I had another doctor tell me they were "everywhere" when they did amniocentesis on me. They also told me that my uterus was 15 cm by 10 cm by 7 cm.

At the time of my hysterectomy (three months after that pre-op ultrasound), I had over 30 fibroids (I guess they stopped counting? ), but none were bigger than 3.5 cm. And the shape of the uterus was more uniform than they had originally thought. (If you have a strong stomach, click on "my photos" to see it.)

Hope this helps.
