I had my surgery on the 9th and got to come home on the 12th. I had over 35 staples down my tummy, I was cut from the left of my belly button all the way down.. OUCH.
I had a 3 inch clot removed while I was in surgery ( we were all shocked on how large it was)
Getting the pain under control was very hard. I was given (all at the same time) Toradol, Percacet, and had the Morphine on the PCA pump running wide open. I was given the button to puch incase the pain got bad and I needed an extra boost.
The nurses were great except for one of them. I had alot of problems even passing gas so I was doing a lot of walking to get things moving again. That didnt even work so they tried a few more things on me and they didnt even work. This night nurse came on shift and told me that she wasnt going to give me any meds until I got up and walked. I told her that I had been up and walking all day and she told me that it wasnt good enough, I had to walk more. Well lets just say that she didnt stay my nurse for long after that. I think that was the only crappy thing, well other than the pain.
No hormones for me since I still have the right ovary.
I am sore now but doing a lot better everyday.
I hope everyone else is recovering well.

3dwoman, don't be embarrassed. I know you think you over did it but that is beside the point. I know my doctor only said only a few flights of stairs a day. No driving for 2 weeks and no intercourse or douching for 6 weeks.

You may have been overdoing it but no one can tell anyone exactly what they are able to do and what they are not able to do.

So, that being said, call and have him either reassure you or see you and help you.

I had my TAH/BSO on 2/27, I am 40 and was already having extreme hot flashes and night sweats so I came out of surgery with a hormone patch on (Vivelle dot) which seems to be working fairly well. I have had a few hot flashes, but not near as many as before. Hope your recovery is going well. Take Care.

I don't guess there is much sympathy from the doc thats why I am so scared to tell him, there is nothing I haven't done the last week that I did pre-surgery. I have four kids two little and alot to do, lots to go to for my kids and running and all, you know "mommie stuff" I am so sad that this couldn't be ignored and gone away! The pain I am experiencing today will remind me and I WILL STAY LAYING DOWN WITH NO CHOICE NOW AND PAIN FOR REMINDER! UGH! I won't expect any sympathy from others as we all were told the same thing and that is rest and rest some more! My question is what could the matter? The nurse just called and they want me in asap--gotta get the kidos lined out so it will be a while!

You could have torn a stitch or two. They can fix it, don't worry. And now you know--stay still!

Third Woman,
Stitches are inside your vagina - my surgeon showed me pictures of what the uterus looked like with the fibroid and what the stitches look like inside me. Have several small stitches on outside where camera went in - provide some pain and itching. Am still taking 800 mg motrin, but that's it. Had lavh with both ovaries and cervix removed same day you did. She said would probably feel pressure sometimes and have, but only occasionally pain. I see her again on thurs for quickie checkup and outer stitches removed, I hope. Hope this helps.

Thanks for writing...I just couldn't imagine where they would be..I had a dermoid in 03 and had it removed with the bikini cut and didn't experience any set back and thought I did what I am doing now, I can't recall any thing different anyway. No problems then, so I'm suprised at this kinda. Doc came in while i was half asleep and tried to show me pics of everything he did and removed and well, it didn't register any and then I was sent home shortly after that! Thanks for the info...how are you by the way?
