I had my TAH/BSO 3/6, so I'm two weeks post-op today! All in all, I'm doing good, but I think I'm doing things too fast. I'm back to doing all the normal things I used to do pre-op, albeit a little slower!

I started hormones the day after surgery, and I still wake up in the middle of the night drenched in sweat, but I know it'll take a while for my hormones to even out. I'm only on pain meds (Percocet) at night to help me get comfortable enough to sleep.

Lakecas ~ I, too am amazed at how tired I have been. Just to take a shower is enough to make me lie down! I have been taking naps throughout the day ~ long ones 2 -3 hours.

I did call my sister and ask her to get me out of here this weekend. I was totally restless. We went to Target ~ she parked at the door and I went right to the service desk and asked for the key for the electric cart I must admit, we laughed quite a bit at first. Around here, the only time you see those carts used, are for people with oxygen or very obese people. I'm young and look in normal condition ~ but I had my iced coffee and felt like a true Queen!!

I thought I would feel embarrased, but I was so excited to be able to get out and do something, that it didn't feel awkward at all. I totally recommend it. I was saying I was going to use it when I feel better, it was so convenient!!!

Of course, when I got home ~ even though I didn't walk much ~ I had to take a 2 hour nap. But that is how our bodies tell us they are recovering, they need that rest ~ so make sure you rest as much as possible.

Enjoy the day,

Not certain I posted this already. Had a TAH on 3/7 and was told that I should only do stairs once/day. Does anyone know when it is okay to do stairs more than once/day? Also, is anyone taking walks? I was alarmed at how slow I walk but have been encouraged to go every day.

I climb the stairs 2 - 3 times a day (very slowly). I have taken a few walks, but be cautious.

My first walk was last week, it was a beautiful day and I walked down to my fields (about 500 feet or so), thinking "wow, this is great" ~ only to realize that I suddenly was feeling a lot of pressure and now had to get all the way back to the house!!! I ended up having to walk from rock to rock and sit and rest between each.

For me, it was how quickly the discomfort came upon me. It was not a slow build, so I was warned and turned around. And as always, came in the house and took a long nap

Was told stairs once or twice a day (at the beginning) ok, but not up and down like usual for laundry, etc. Have been walking more and stairs more often now ( 2 weeks for me today too), and the only warning you get is that pressure feeling. As posted earlier, was surprised when shopping with dh, needed to hold onto the cart and drive for support. Naps several times a day including one right after I get up after making coffee and eating breakfast, nothing that strenuous. Hope everyone gettting better bit by bit.

It is really a shock when you realize how reduced your stamina truly is. My biggest challenge is to accept this and try to enjoy the process of healing. All the best to you!

I actually drove my car today! I went down the end of the street (1/3 mile) to drop off my daughter at the school bus. It was so liberating! But then just took a short nap aftwards.

When I drive it hurts right by my incision (right under my bikini line)... lots of pressure when I try to sit straight.

I have been starting to do the steps 4 or 5 times a day. It is okay, it is just standing around, or trying to sit at the kitchen table after. I can no sit straight for very long. My back is starting to ache as well from the lack of stomach muscles. I use to be in pretty good shape!

I have my 2 week check up tomorrow, and I am going to drive I think. It is about 10 minutes away. I am sure I can do it, but probabaly need to take a nap right after. I think sitting in the Drs office will be just as difficult!

Have a good day.

Thanks. My true interest in stairs is that it is time to do some laundry. Isn't it amazing how a shower and breakfast exhausts you? I am trying to establish some routine so that I can track my progress each day.

I agree that sitting for long periods is a challenge.
