Is anyone having trouble sleeping? After coming home on Wed I slept great - the past two nights I may sleep 4 hours and lay awake for 1.5 before going back to sleep for a couple. I am also not able to nap during the day (This is very unusual for me as I can always take a nap!) I lay a rest - I even tried reading the most boring material I could find and found myslef halfway through the book!

I had my LAVH on March 2nd. I experienced the bruised rib pain that you are talking about. I started researching it and even thought it might be my gallbladder. It hurt when i laughed, coughed, etc. Sometimes it even hurt when I sat upright too long. I am 9 days post-op and i haven't had the pain in a few days. Maybe it was trapped gas? I am just glad it has stayed away. Now if I could get my bladder issues under control I would be doing great. Good Luck

Thanks for the reply. Maybe it is trapped gas but i wish it would go away soon. I hurt to laugh or cough and also the sitting upright too long. What bladder issues you having? I constantly feel like I have to pee. I told my mom today that it feels like I have a bladder infection without the pain when you pee. Just the lower abdomen hurting. Also the dizzy feeling...im only on 800 mg of motrin. Shouldnt be dizzy from that. Hope you getting to feeling better soon.

I kinda feel like I have to pee all the time also. A "full" feeling that is always on my mind. I try to go to the bathroom often because if I wait too long it really hurts. I have been drinking crystal light lemondade, cranberry juice and water and it seems a little better today. I also started moving alot more. I am also 4 days post-op longer than you--that makes a world of difference. It does feel like the lower abdomen hurting. It could be the Motrin making you dizzy. I stopped taking all pain meds on the 3rd day after surgery. The Percoset was affecting my BM and I really didn't need anything. I have been very fortunate. I have felt dizzy when I get up too fast but that is the only time. Best wishes for a speedy recovery..by the way, if you don't mind me asking, did you have to have a Abdominal Hyst? I had a LAVH --I think that is why I feel so good already. Good Luck

Just a point for you gals with the pee issues. My doctor told me to be on the lookout for a bladdar infection which seem to be common after cathater use. They do test your urine when the cath is taken out but I may call if you continue to feel full or have any pain.

I just don't know how much of the pressure that i am feeling is a normal part of the healing and what might be something else. I go back on the 15th--i guess i can get him to test it then. Thank you for the reply

Hello, I am new to the group. I had my hysterectomy on March 6th, I stayed in the hospital for 4 days. I was preparing for one day. At the beginning of the stay everyone in the hospital was quick to respond, I noticed by day 3 the response time got longer. I have come home with a catheter which will be removed Tuesday. This was something else I didn't expect. I cannot tolerate many of the strong pain meds but my doctor is trying a new one, which seems to work fairly well on the pain, but gives me the stranges thoughts/dreams and slight headaches. I too am having insomnia, so I walk around the house and when I can sit watch TV Land. It is so nice to hear from people sharing the same experiences.

I had a Vaginal left ovaries and tubes. (not sure the correct abbreviations). Wanting to stop the pain killers, but lower back pain has been preventing me from stopping altogether. To me feels like what back labor felt like, only I cant just push and have the baby. My mom laughed and said dont push by any means. Dont worry there. LOL Think I might have dh take me outside for a bit of fresh air. Thanks for all the help ladies, really appreciate the input.

I had a TVAH BSO on the 6th. I am still on darvocet every 4-6 hours, but am hoping to switch to Ibuprofen tomorrow. How often are people walking? My SiL is a nurse and she told me to walk as much as I possibly could--more than I think might be helpful, more than I want to. I am trying to get up every hour or so for a 10-minute walk, which really seems to help with gas and bowel issues.
