Feeling good, honoring recovery time

Hi all,

Well here we all are. 2-3 weeks post-op. Here is my update. I have to say I am feeling pretty well although my house is trashed (we had a death in our family so I am left to run the house on my own) and I am little bored. But all is ok. I am into this recovery thing, I am realizing that this can be a lenghty project. I am now dealing with, what I think are pelvic floor spasms. I feel like I am in a constant state of arousal (at any other time...). The sutures are desovling so there is some discharge and such. I guess I did not realize that it can take longer than 4-6 weeks to recover. My MD is new school, she is like, "do whatever you feel up to, you are doing fine" I won't see her until April 4th.
Thank you all for sharing your experiences and for being "there". Continued best wishes to you all for continued healing and good health!

how do you know?

"pelvic floor spasms" this may be a dumb question but what is that and how do you know thats what it is?

I am a little suprised as well. I had a dermoid Mass tumor removed from my ovary in '03 and I was cut (bikini cut) and do NOT remember going through ANY recovery. MAYBE that is why I ended up in this shape huh?
Could this be do to 1) surgery 2) kind of surgery: it's all OUT OF THERE 3) appear to be a wimp? 4) part of it 5) totally different than other surgerys..I may have repeated but I am sooooo curious!
Maybe if I didn't have sick toddlers and you have a death in the family it wouldn be different.!
Have you noticed when mom is down EVERYTHING gets DOWN? How wierd is that?

My Dr. did not give me prohibtions on sex. She did say to do what I am up to doing (for everything, not just sex) and that I probably wouldn't feel like having sex for a bit. So, to not worry about when...

And indeed, I would not want anyone touching me right now...

hello all.
can you believe it has been 2 weeks... I feel like it has been a lot longer of a time, but my body is saying not yet!!!

went for the 2 week check up on Wed, and he said I can not hurt anything now. He too believes I should push it a little, but I don't know a happy medium. I am either overduing it, and terribly tight and tired after, or just in vegatation state. The most difficult thing is the inability to sit for long periods of time. I feel like I am either walking too much, or reclining!

I was told at least 2 more weeks until sex...

Have a great weekend, relaxing.

Do you actually see your stitches come out? I have been having a brownish discharge for about 2 weeks of my 3 post-op and have never seen stitches? Actually sometimes I think it has an odor also(sorry to be graphic) It does come moe when I am active and first thing in the morning when I get up. The other ladies say I should call the DR--it just seems like it would have slowed down by now. I am on antibiotics for a bladder infection already but I don't know if they will help with any other types of infection. I don't even know where the infection would be coming from ?

3d ~ yes, the aching back is definitely still there. I am going to try and go to the chiropractor this week for it. If you visualize the position they had you in for the surgury, it makes sense to ache! My Dr. had told me about the position and since my back was already weak prior to surgury ~ looked uncomfortable (and embarrasing ).

I can't believe you got the OK for sex already ~ I heard the stitches would start coming out around week 4 - 5, so I thought it would have to be until then, at least. Maybe it is depending on which type of surgury?

Well of to start the day, I'm going to attempt to drive ~ I have the AC Moore 50% of coupon and can hear the crafts calling!!!

Enjoy the day all!!
I also have the 'state of arousal' that was mentioned, and DO AGREE at any other time! Maybe with lots of praying, it will not go away????

good morning

The heating pad has become my best companion now...due to the back pain. Yes I have had a visual re: position during surgury and well, that explains it huh?
I am tapering off on the discharge and only have light light brown now, never saw a stitch tho!
I am sooooo looking forward to life after surgery and ready to show everyone that a hyster means "health".
I counted my cards last night and I've rec'd 28 thus far.
Boy, do I have thank-you's to write out, not for the cards but for the two weeks of food brought in.
My big kids have their first soccer game in about 10 min and I am home (never missed a game before)with sick daughter(dbl ear infection ugh) Bless her lil' pea picker.....she's on the mend with zithromax! She'll be y soon!
I am still soo hungary and eat like a horse.....well, the hunger is there anyway, I never eat like a horse only a tiny bird, but I set out to and well, I fear the "supposed inevitable"..so I will keep the hunger at bay and not give in! Cookies! hehehe

Cramping is much better by using the heat pad, I still feel something in there don't know what, but....Ouchy it feels "crampy".
How are ya'll doing? Don't forget to keep in touch..miss hearing from ya! I know reality is setting in huh? Back to what normal is?
Have a great day!
