Progress report

I am 4 weeks out today; still moving pretty slow and having some pain but managing it with Motrin. I tire pretty easily but am comfortable most of the time. Having hot flashes and a bit of trouble sleeping, but not enough to make me miserable. No hormones for me right now, my Dr. says he may consider after 6 months depending on my symptoms. I am going to try to do without if I can...time will tell.

Had my first post op visit last week and was declared to be healing very well. Surgery was more involved than expected, very bad endo, very large cyst and fibroids. But Path came back with no malignancy so we are very grateful!! I was nervous to get the staples out but it wasn't too bad, just a little bit of pinching and stinging.

My husband and friends have been so wonderful, I can't complain.

I really underestimated how long it would take me to recover, so I'm feelng a bit impatient, but I am getting a lot of good books read. Being in FL the weather has been gorgeous and that helps keep my spirits up.

This website has been terrific and I am so grateful to have everyone's stories and insights to read.

Thanks to all and wishing everyone a speedy and uneventful recovery.

Thanks to everyone!

Thanks to all of you for being so helpful with my issues during post hyster, this site has been much more supportive and informative than my dr! Today is a month since the surgery, the dr released me to go back to work at 3 weeks, but no sex until 5 weeks. She said the stitches looked great and will probably take 3 months to fully dissolve. I'm doing great, other than tiring very easily. Tried sex the other night, didn't quite make it to 5 weeks, we were careful and all went well, but yesterday had a lot of cramping and sharp stabbing pains. Anyone else have these symtoms? Also, what the heck is "kegels"?

Thanks again for the wonderful support!

Questions about recovery should be posted in a new thread where you'll receive responses from members who are further along in their recovery than those members who had their surgery around the same time as yours.

Hi all. Have you ever had one of those days where from the time you got up you knew it was going to be a bad day? I'm having one of those days. DS had playschool, he wanted to go but he wanted to know why he had to go. Told him we dont have to go, but then he whined he wanted to go. Dropped him off, its raining and yucky out today, came home to find my house a mess (dont recall it being that messy at bedtime).Think I am stressing about nothing. Just feeling out of sorts. Little things getting to me. Or maybe I should go back to bed and start the day again.

in there!

hunnybunny,

I am having one of those days too! If fact it has been like this for a few days. It's so frustrating because I have been doing so good. Oh well, tomorrow is another day and maybe it will be better!

What do you gals think should I do it--it's going on three years....? I sorta don't desire another "surgery" just yet........input please!
Oh and I'm thinking less is more!
I say get your scope done. My mother died ten years ago from Dukes Stage IV colon cancer at age 55. Her MD said that she probably had polyps 14 years prior to her diagnosis. Early detections saves lives!!!!!!!

Go for it! I had my first this year. It is not really "surgery" per se and you will sedated.

Good luck!

Has it sunk in yet?

I am JUST realizing that I will no longer have a period. I guess it really hit home when I realized that I had PMS symptoms which used to be alleviated by starting my period (of course, that brought it's own discomfort). I sat there like, oh! I will never have my period again. WOW!
My birthday is in a couple of weeks and I am gonna treat myself to all new panties! No more "designated" undies for period time. No more ruining my new ones. Wow!!!!

Yeah Deider,

I love an all white bed. I sleep so tranquilly. Now, I can do that all month long! I am starting to get past the issues of the actual surgery and deal with life, status-post bleeding out every month.
