Question - Children with food allergies? Children with food allergies?

Hi! I just found out that my 3 and 1/2 yr old has tons of food allergies. She is allergic to wheat, milk, eggs, peas, beans, chicken and is VERY allergic to white potatoes(very rare) and of course peanuts and tree nuts. Does anybody have allergic children? What do you feed them? Help! Thanks, Elizabeth

Children with food allergies?

I have three autistic children. One of the approches with helping these children are diets. My kids are dairy/Casien free. There is a diet call the Gluten/Casien Free diet. Do a search on the internet. From what it sounds like, your son my fit into this catagory. Did they give him a diagnosis of a disease, like Celiac or something? Keep me posted and let me know if I can help.

Children with food allergies?

i have a daughter with celiac(wheat allergy) and she is lactose intolerant. I make everything homemade so i can control all the ingredients. a health food store would be a great place for you to go. the workers are usually very knowledgable about food allergies. it is much more expensive than a regular food store, but necessary for my daughters health. also, once you learn what your child can eat there is a great site on line. shopbydiet.com. they have everything and are very reliable. all my best to you in finding health and healing for your child

Children with food allergies?

Just in case you haven't had time to research foods for your child, I wanted to let you know there are all sorts of foods made out of rice. Rice bread, rice pasta, rice crackers, rice cookies, rice pizza doughetc, and you can also buy rice flour in most food stores now. That way, you can make anything they make with regular flour. Also, there is soy flour, if that's not a problem. My entire family eats all the products i make with these products. All my best to you.

My daughter is allergic to milk. I suspect other allergies, but hr doctor doesn't seem to care much. I have to ask what were the symptoms that made you decide to get your child tested??? I would love to figure out what is wrong with my daughter. Thank You

Children with food allergies?

Thanks everyone for the help! My daughter has had eczema since she was 6 months old. My husband and I both have had eczema in the past so we just listened to her pediatrician when she said its dry skin. We noticed that she would get red and splotchy sometimes after eating. So we used benadryl a lot! Her nose started running all the time and her skin would crack and bleed 5 days out of 7. She's 3 and a 1/2 now and her skin broke out in a scaly rash about 2 weeks ago. Instead of taking her back to her dr, I decided to see if it was allergies. I took her to the allergist this past Monday and had a 40 point allergy test done. She didn't cry so it must not have hurt her too bad. Come to find out, she is allergic to 13 out of forty allergens! They are mostly food based. So now I have to find basically rice and corn based foods!(not so easy) I have been to the stores around here and carried my list with about 200 ingredients she can't have hoping to find ANYTHING that she can eat! Wish me luck! Elizabeth

So sorry about your daughter. In addition to the website I mentioned, shopbydiet.com you should check the area in your food store that sells diebetic stuff (i find a lot of gluten free things there) Since she can eat corn too, you can find pasta made out of corn, rice and soy mixed together. It's really good and my whole family eats it. Also, try the health food stores. Best to you

Children with food allergies?

my daughter had terrible stomach aches every day for quite a while. they thought it was just a lactose intolerance, but the pain continued. I brought to a gastro dr and the first thing he said was to test her for celiac. It's a simple blood test and they can test for tons of other allergies at the same time. How old is she?

Children with food allergies?

Unfortunately, she can't have any soy! She's allergic to beans! In addition to the soy, she can't have milk, eggs, wheat, peanuts, tree nut or shellfish. I will try the web sites and see what she can have! Elizabeth

Ok y'all! How did you know to test your kids for celiac? My mom called this morning and was talking about it after it was talked about on the view. Did you go to the pedatrician or a specialist? She's only 3 1/2 so I worry about undo pain. I feel like I'm going nuts with all the restrictions to her diet! HELP!!! Elizabeth
