preop testing shows no cancer markers-uterine mass present- can this still be cancer

I am scheduled for TAH on 3/19 due to Heavy bleeding, right "complicated" ovarian cyst and a 2" unidentified uterine mass, severe anemia. they are very clear about calling this a "mass" not a fibroid... my CA 125 level came back at 13, which I believe is good...... did anyone have good test results only to find out that it was indeed cancer? I am so scared, during all of the pre-op work , they also found two cysts in my breast, so now I am double scared and waiting...... any insight would help! thanks

s scared louise

Your user name about sums it up, right? Your fear and apprehension is totally normal.

First of all, it is good that your CA125 came back at 13. Although a CA125 is only one indicator where ovarian cancer is concerned. I would suggest that you have a gyn/onc at least present in the OR at your surgery.

I am sure everything will turn out totally benign, but with a complicated cyst and a uterine mass, I would personally be sure to have that specialist on stand-by. My CA125 was over 2000 prior to my surgery.

Try to stay as busy as possible prior to surgery. out here with us and we'll help you get thru this. We're here 24/7 and always leave the on.

Thanks Lori, I will keep my head and my hopes up.. I do have a Gyn Oncologist doing the surgery. My fears grew even more yesterday, they have found a lump in my breat and now I have a referral to see a breast surgeon. wow ,what a year this is starting out to be. I appreciate your response and hope you are doing well in your battle!! Stay strong
