My brother has tattooed for over 30 years, his shop is in Alabama,he doesn't tattoo anymore, he now hires tattooist to work in his shop, my nephew is a tattooist-he travels, and my son works as a supervisor at a factory and tattoos and pierces in his spare time.He has a shop right in his home-separate entrance.

Tattoos are SO addicting, I agree! It's unexplainable. I have a rainbow with a star on my foot and pink Aerosmith wings on the small of my back.

Interesting thread!

My son worked for 3 weeks last summer in 2 different shops in MN. One was Cloud 9 and I can't remember the name of the other.

I am a tattoo artist. Yes they are addicting. The tattoo I remember most was a women in her 60's on oxygen, came in to get a hummingbird on her back. Her mother had just pasted away and she had always wanted a tattoo but her mom always talked her out of it. Saying she wouldn't get to heaven if she got it. Her mother had to die before she lived her life for herself. I kinda thought that was sad. OF course my mother felt the same way, and I am the artist. After years of looking up scripture and talks with ministers, she has come around. And as for the pain. We are women, we handle pain all the time, from childbirth, to the periods and problems that took us to the castle. A little tattoo, only hurst for as long as it takes to do it. Mind over matter if its something you want, don't let the pain disscourage you. Without a little pain in life where would we be? I have 32 hours worth of work so far, which really isn't much for an artist. But I do have to give props to my doctor, I have a tattoo (outline only so far) that goes across my lower stomach. He was able to go low enough and missed the whole thing. Can't wait till it's finished, you'll never even see my scar! I love helping people, by making them feel good about their bodies again. Have fun ladies!!!!

ok, tell me how much it hurts to get your belly button pierced? I figure now that mine is pretty much destroyed by 2 laprascopys, I might as well decorate it Can you go to a regular ear piercing pplace to get it done, or do you have to go somewhere else??

I have 5 tatts. The first one is a single rose and I was 18 when I got it. The second one is on my right arm and is a band with 3 roses in it and I was 34 when I got it. The third is on my lower back and is 3 hearts connected with my DH in the middle and the kids on each side and I got it when I was 40. The fourth and fifth are memorials tatts for my grandmother and mother, my grandma's is on my left arm and is lillies with her birth and death dates and my mom's is on my left leg and is roses with her birth and death dates I got them within 5 months of each other and I was 41 when I got those.
When we go on vacation this year we are going to Miami so I have talked DH into going to Miami Ink so I can have Kat do a portrait of my grandmother on my back cuz she always had my back growing up. If you would like to see my tatts they are in my pics.

Laura,
As far as feet go the lady that does mine said hers hurt like h*** on the top of her foot.
She has tatts everywhere also. She has even done her fingers which she said was as bad as her foot but when it's done it looks great.

Teacher30 belly button piercings aren't to bad my DD has one and the lady who does our tatts did hers and she used a clamp and then ran the needle thru and DD didn't even feel it and she is a big chicken. I would recommend going to a tatt shop to get it done.
Good luck
