Cats3,

I hate to disappoint you, but Kat is no longer at Miami Ink. Ami fired her and they are looking for an artist to replace her. I understand there will be a new show called LA Ink featuring Kat. I do not have any tats myself, but I enjoy watching Miami Ink. I never realized how touching some of the stories behind the tattoos can be.

You will need to go to a tattoo and piercing shop in your area. You should check to make sure they are using one time use needles. That they autoclave anything they will be reusing and you should smell bleach when you walk through the door. Check out the piercers portfolio, make sure they know what they are doing. They need to have knowledge of the human body and should give you detailed instructions on how to care for it. The belly botton takes up to a year to heal completely. You must cleanse the area 2 times a day, with sea salt or a product called H2ocean. Check out local shopes on the internet. Do your research and a piercing can be extremly fun!

Yep! it can hurt. Mine on my foot did, but I have put many on girls who say the foot doesn't hurt. After everything we prinesses have gone thru the time it will take to put it on your foot will be a short time but in the end you will have a beautifull piece to look at the rest of your life! Good luck!

It hurt but for such a short time...like only seconds as it was being pierced. The pain wasn't too bad but it did sting after it was done and the girl was putting antiseptic on it. I will be honest too and tell you that my piercing got caught on my shirt a few weeks ago and pulled with a little bit of bleeding and than it got infected. The infection was very gross, hurt, swollen, and oozing gross gunk. I was keeping it cleaned with sea salt and was going to go see my dr who did my hyst and have him look at it but I started having bladder pain and was but on antibiotics so my bellybutton cleared up. You just have to be really careful with it.

I have a new tattoo I got a few months ago with vinework around my belly button with blue flowers and a ladybug. I got a lady bug on my right lower stomach. I'm going back after my 1 year hysterversary to get my bellybutton tattoo finished. The guy doing it specializes in surgery scars and the scar is still too weak and I will go after dr gives the thumbs up. I'm going to add more vines and roses....My little vinework turns into a vineyard when I had swellybelly.

I'm blessed to have a good dr who's also a gyn/fertility-reproducive specialist/cosmetic surgeon. He knew before my hyst that I wanted to get a piercing and tattoo and he made sure my incision was as small as possible and neatly put together. The tattoo artist even commented that my scar was so minimal and the dr did a really good job. Never had someone tell me a scar was beautiful...lol!! My bellybutton was really messed up due to ablastion surgeries and other lap exploratory surgeries and gyn fixed it so it looks like a normal one with just a small "nub" of scar tissue where he sewed me together...sorry to ramble but I'm so grateful to him for giving me a normal looking bellybutton were a dr was careless and didn't take asthetics into consideration (I know painfree is the most important but appearances have a lot to do with how we feel).

thanks for sharing! I'm still struggling with that swelly belly too, but my dr was real good too about my belly button incisions, so this last one has healed up real nice, only slightly larger than the first. My DH thought I was crazy , but hey, after all this, why not go through a little pain for an actual purpose of looking cute!

Hi...love my tattoos (2 smaller and 5 larger)...have between 60-70 hours now and plan for more in the future. Have some pics posted here if you'd like to look. As far as pain goes it is all relative. I dont find it bad, certainly have had much more painful things in my life. I find a good nights sleep, and filling meal about an hour before helps. I usually snack on a power bar about 1/2 way thru a session (I usually sit 4 -5 hours ...the longest sitting was 6.5 hrs).

The fourth and fifth are memorials tatts for my grandmother and mother, my grandma's is on my left arm and is lillies with her birth and death dates and my mom's is on my left leg and is roses with her birth and death dates I got them within 5 months of each other and I was 41 when I got those.
When we go on vacation this year we are going to Miami so I have talked DH into going to Miami Ink so I can have Kat do a portrait of my grandmother on my back cuz she always had my back growing up. If you would like to see my tatts they are in my pics.

Laura,
As far as feet go the lady that does mine said hers hurt like h*** on the top of her foot.
She has tatts everywhere also. She has even done her fingers which she said was as bad as her foot but when it's done it looks great.

Teacher30 belly button piercings aren't to bad my DD has one and the lady who does our tatts did hers and she used a clamp and then ran the needle thru and DD didn't even feel it and she is a big chicken. I would recommend going to a tatt shop to get it done.
Good luck
I thought from the show that Kat has gone back to LA?! She has her own show starting I think next week called LA Ink. I am addicted to Miami Ink so I'm excited about the new show. I have decided I am getting my first tatoo on my 30th birthday in September! I have wanted one since I was a teenager and finally decided that after all I have gone through what a wonderful way to bring in a new decade with wonderful new opportunities. I picked a celtic symbol that stands for eternal love. It is gorgeous. I am sooo excited now I just have to decide where I am going to have it done!
