Sammi, my thoughts are with you. Stay focused and know that 'this too shall pass'. You have made me aware of something I wasn't and that's the spasms. I had a few very strong tinges in my right side - I just assumed it was my right ovary barking at me for having had a cyst removed. It's probably the nerve endings healing, as you said.

I, too, am taking Motrin, and even if I'm not in that much pain, I take it anyway, just in case. It helps to relieve any backache I may have and keeps the rest of me feeling pretty much pain free.

Don't be discouraged (though I can understand why you feel that way). It will all work out in time. We all heal differently. Feel better and know I'm sending you positive thoughts!!! Paula

Day 10 and I have a "hard" area around my belly buttom...it is fairly large...It just feels like it is pulling when I move...I am just exhausted. I take 3 Ibus every 6 hours. I can't sleep on my side...and I am a side sleeper. I am just ready to feel halfway normal again.

Hi Bridget!! You're so sweet! I'm doing pretty well only 5 days post op. How are you feeling? You hit a milestone on 3/14.....any words of wisdom?

I'm noticing my back is taking the brunt of things......and it seems a lot of the ladies are experiencing the same. Guess it's all part of the healing process. Let me know how you are coming along!

AlternateCourse....hang in there, sister. I'm sure there will be ups and downs along the way. I guess we begin to believe that because we have a really good day (like I had yesterday) that they'll all be the same. We need to remember that our bodies are making the decisions. Did you speak with your doctor about the hard spot you are feeling? I would do that if I were you. Let us know what you find out.

Loads of to my sisters! Paula

Just wanted to let you all know yes it gets better. Mine was 03-14-07 total. At first i could not sleep at night was having night sweats and emotions was getting the best of me but i am doing better i have not been taking the ibuprofen on a regular time period only when i need it. I still have soreness but not as bad and don't think about it all the time now. Only problem i seem to have is when i have to go bathroom i cramp so bad it doubles me up of course i forget to take the stool softeners twice a day we went out last night to ate and by the time i go home i thought i was going to die before i got to the bathroom. So have to remember to take it i have not tried to drive yet and doc said i could after getting off heavy pain pills but we have a truck and stick shift i dont know how that is going to go over just yet may try tomorrow just a little to go and see how i do. I have to get out of here even if it is to go sit at the lake and watch the new baby ducks just to get out of here.

Day 10

Thanks Deb for the kind encouragement, and no, I sure will stay away from the pumpkin seeds-forever.
Had a pretty decent night last night, the first one I might add. Got up about 3 times, but that is a huge improvement.
Taking Advil regularily so I dont let the soreness get the head start. DH said that is how you are supposed to take pain medication, to head off trouble.
Noticed today that I think the vaginal swelling may be less and I dont feel that constant heavy pressure and when I pee, I seem to have a better stream with no ouch afterward. Thank God for that. No pelvic spasms so far today either.
I may try to drive to a bit furniture sale about 15 min in the car today, we will see.
Walking better too, not like I have a watermelon between my legs.
Stomach seems to be more tender at night, I guess everything sags during the day?
Hugs, to everyone and good luck and fast healing to all of us.
Sammi

My d h took me out to dinner last night at Red Lobster - food was okay but service was not. We were there awhile - waiter was goofy - anyway, got home and noticed some oozing from my wound....has any of the newer punctured princesses experienced this yet ?

Hello everyone! I don't post here normally..I just read. However, my surgery was March 14th and I just wanted to add my report to all I've read so far. I had a TAH leaving only one ovary remaining. I had several large fibroids, though they weren't bothering me, but had also developed complex endometrial hyperplasia with atypia cells...THAT was the reason behind the surgery. I'm a distance runner and, so far, have had a wonderful recovery. I have a desk job and will be returning to work part time on Tuesday, 13 days after the surgery. I've been walking daily since I came home...slowly at first, now a bit more quickly...and I haven't had any bleeding in a week or so. My appetite is peckish still from the anasesthesia, but the suture line is already fading to pink. I hate the "poochy stomach" thing, but have been told I'll have to deal with it for up to 6 months postoperatively. All told...I am amazed and thrilled with the way my recovery's gone. I won't lift anything still..and will not be able to run for possibly weeks yet..but I'm totally happy with my progress. Here's to speedy and complete recoveries to all....Blessings, S.

pumpkin seeds

Sami, Don't totally swear off pumpkin seeds BUT DO,DO take off the outer shells before eating. We've always eaten them like sunflower seeds. Suck on them then crack the shells and take the seed out. Discard (don't swallow) the shell. I cringed when I'd read you'd eaten them shell and all. Poor thing! Glad to hear you're feeling better though!

I went out to the mall and wal-mart with the kids yesterday. Had to get things for school I just didn't think my DH could manage. Teen DD driving. I think that was more stress on my body than if I'd driven. We were very quick about both places (aside from the slow pace I set) and boy did I feel it. Got home and promptly took a 2 hour nap. It sort of did feel good to get out though.

Take care all! LJC
