it's been a little while...Update and ??

So here's what's been up. In case I didn't have enough on my plate being a single mom to a crazy 4 year old, and a full time college student PLUS weekly chemo treatments, I now have a 40 hour a week job as a counselor in a prison.

But I do have good news, I won't have any chemos for two weeks (it's my break between cycles).
The docs are also talking about a pill form of chemo, but I don't know enough about it, and if It is gonna make me more sick, mand have more side effects than the Gemzar/Taxotere, than I don't think I want it. Has anyone else used a "Chemo Pill"??

Oh, Cherry,

You must be Wonder Woman. A 40 hour job during chemo...what in the round world??????????????

I have been reading some about pill form chemo. Just do not know much about it. I do know I have a little friend with Melanoma and they gave her pill form for a couple months.

Do not know how strong it is or it's history. Hopefully someone will know.

Don't run off with one of those prisioners...ya'll hear.

Best to you,
Juanita

Cherry,
A friend had an inoperable brain tumor. He had radiation followed by a pill form of chemo for 18 months, on for one week off for 3 weeks. His tumor is gone, and his only side effects was fatigue.
Hope yours is just as effective.

Hi Cherry,

I took chemo in a pill for 6 months. The name of the drug I took was Xeloda. I took this for stage 3C colon cancer. I was on IV chemo and had a severe reaction on my 5th treatment. They gave me about 8 weeks to cool off (their words) then put me on the Xeloda. It was so much easier on my body. That's not to say there were no side effects, it just agreed with me more then the iv drugs did.

Hope this helps,

Mary

Hi, Cherry! I am currently taking Temodar, a capsule (pill) form of chemo recently approved for the treatment of sarcomas. Maybe this is what your doctor is considering. I just finished a 3rd cycle Friday. Actually, I am finding it easier than the other chemos I have had. I too, have (always want to write HAD) leiomyosarcoma.
