OK I found my Achilles Heel-it's my mouth. Had to break down and get some OraJel and a sensitive teeth rinse. I swear the throbbing made me consider the Vicoprofen. I'll have to call the dentist-but I'm pretty sure I didn't crack it. I hope I don't have a root canal-I'd rather have another hysterectomy-LOL. I had to have a crown a couple of years back and I spent 3 months in pain because the nerve got irritated-that's what this tooth feels like too.
Only made it 31 minutes on the treadmill because of the tooth. I'll do another 30 minutes on the bike later. The rinse really helped. I think I was in a lot of pain because I got no sleep last night. Just popped awake and couldn't go back to sleep.

Notgreatmischief-I've never done Salsa but it looks so cool. My body is athletic and not made for the grace of dance. I look like "Matilda the Hun" when I try to teach dance aerobics-it's very hysterical. No I'm more of a step aerobics and cycling girl. Good luck with the trainer-do me a favor make sure she's certified. I've been out of the teaching scene (but held onto my credentials) and I am truly shocked at the people who call themselves trainers. I was thinking my teaching days were over because I was "old" by the industry standards. But what's happening is us "oldies" are being asked to teach again because the younger generation isn't getting the education they need to do the job right. And the clients (mainly baby boomers) are starting to have health issues. And I enjoyed Lance Armsrong's books. He is an extremely driven man whether it's to fight cancer or win on the bike. I'm very passionate about cycling and I couldn't even hold a candle to him. But I tell you my bike is what gets me through the days. It's the instrument that I play my life song on. Everyone should have a passion to stay young.

Well off to do some cleaning and of course cycling. and dh is on his way home...Miette can wave hi to him soon as he zooms over Europe.

The back pain I have, too. I think it's from trying to use it now when we haven't for so long. Getting back into the swing of things. Ibuprofen is the best OTC drug to use. Each pill is 200mg., but I take 800 mg at once. My rheumatologist said I could take up to 2400 mg. a day for my Lupus/arthritis/back pain for degenerative disc disease.

I had a restless/sleepless night as well. If I'm not having a hot flash, I'm freezing or just plain uncomfortable. My Percocet makes me not sleepy, but when I do sleep, I dream I'm a hooker!!!!!!!! I guess I'm counting down the days until......................

Now I am passing bloody clots with the bright red vaginal bleeding/discharge. I called the doctor on call at my clinic, but he offered no advice except "if you feel like you should be seen, report to the ER". My surgeon is gone this weekend, and I have an appointmet already set up for Monday morning. How do you know what amount is too much bleeding, and are bloody clots (a bit larger than a quarter size) normal at 3 1/2 weeks PO? I am so frustrated and scared. I guess I will have DH take me to the hospital later tonite, I just hate to go if it's totally normal. I am also cramping alot, with lots of back pain.

Thanks for any input you may have to offer!

Superwife:
I didn't bleed after surgery, until one week later, and it was light pink spotting. Of course, I was scared, but my doctor ( head of the practice) told me if it was as much as a period I needed to worry. I'm not giving advice, but if that were me, I'd want to know what was causing it. Could it be stitches dissolving? Have you overdone it and pulled something loose? You would feel better if you went and had it checked out. Just to ease your mind. You'll sleep better tonight.

P.S. I'm 3 1/2 wks out, too, and my DH is a Registered Nurse. He says you need to be checked out, tonight.

Superwife,

If your take votes I vote for the ER. I was told when I was discharged from the hospital that if there was a discharge that was bloody or red to have it checked out. Better safe than sorry. Good Luck and let us know.

If you have any post op recovery questions, please start a new thread in the Post Op forum. That way you will have the benefit of more than just the members who had surgery around the same time as you did.

Most doctors will tell you that if you are soaking more than one pad an hour you need to be seen.

Superwife~ I have had spotting the entire time since my surgery, however, I have not had bright red blood nor have I had clots. If I had those things I would be very concerned and going to the hospital, especially if it was accompanied with back pain and cramps. just my opinion.

On a side note, I ventured out and got my nails done and a pedicure. I think it was the worst pedicure of my life,my guy (who always does my nails) was so worried about hurting me he didn't even want to really exfoliate my feet. I had to practically beg him, he said,I don't want to hurt you....... too sweet, but a horrible pedicure! Then hubby took me to kroger and I barely made it through there, I was wiped out! Think I did to much today!

Wednesday I went for a post op check and he did a pelvic exam and decided to apply silver nitrate because I was oozing blood from the incision in there. I had noticed some red blood with the discharge and it would kind of come and go ever since I came home from the hospital. I started bleeding quite a bit more Wed. night after he had applied the silver nitrate. The doctor called me Thurs and Fri to check on me and asked if I had fever or cramping or bleeding more. At that time, I told him I was having bright red bleeding but no fever, etc. Of course, I had to start having further symptoms AFTER the clinic closed and today I have just stayed resting most of the day. Each time I get up, I gush bloody discharge. When I go to the bathroom to pee, the toilet bowl is totally reddish and I pass bloody clots. Each time I start really cramping bad, I pass a clot shortly after. The bloody discharge has a pretty yucky odor too. I wish I knew what they will do if I go to the ER. I just hate to put my husband and kids (age 5 and 7) through all this dealing with mommy!!

Catherine: I was mainly just posting my udate, as I had mentioned the problems I am having on this forum earlier. I may post the question on the other board too, unless I am already gone to the ER.

Paige69: Does your DH know what all they will do at the ER? Just scared and curious. The doctor told me Thursday to put a tampon in and leave it overnight and then remove it first thing in the morning to apply pressure. I did that, but I am still just bleeding and I am out of tampons now. (Besides, putting a tampon in there right now seems so yucky and scary since I feel there is a nasty odor to the discharge. tmi - I know)

Thanks for your help.
